Anyone shoot +P ammo out of their Ultra Carry II?  I'm looking at shooting Federal 165 grain +P hydrashocks.  I'm wondering if these will be too hard on the alloy frame.
Thanks for the info.

You might want to check with Kimber on their recommendation whether to use +P ammo in an alloy frame.  Personally, I stick to standard velocity stuff in my Ultra Carry.  Speer makes a Gold Dot load for short barrels also.

I carry speer 200 +p in my Ultra Carry. I was told that the 165 grain was too light and you shouldn't shoot lighter than 185 grain. I have never heard that the Ultra Carry was not rated for +P. I talked to Kimber once about recoil springs, and the guy mentioned that unless you are constantly feeding it +P's you shouldn't go away from the factory weight of the spring. Therefore, I assumed he has no problems with the Ultra Carry shooting +P's.

Kimber says no +P right in the manual.

I shot about 60 rounds of +P in mine recently and broke the guide rod assembly.  I'm not certain the +P caused the failure, but I'm not taking any chances and am switching back to standard 230g stuff.

I carry 230gr Hydrashoks in my ultra.

Side bonus is that 230 gr ball ammo is the least expensive .45 ACP, so you can practice with it.

If you want a lighter bullet, try the 185 Silvertip,

I also use the Gold Dot 200gr +P in my Ultra Carry II.   I have fired  alot of these through it with no sign of wear.

Kimber recomended 185s when I talked to them.  I shot Golden Saber 230s +p and they jammed the slide back and bent the slide release.  I really had to hit the back of the slide to get it to release.

I usually shoot 230,  but the 185 gold dots shoot real well out of it.
