How do the grips compare?  is the USPc grip similar to the P2000 w/ the medium backstrap?

I just had my USPc stolen and have been shopping for the replacement.  At first i was going to pick up another Compact 9, but after looking around I igured maybe I'd try a newer model.

Couldnt find any P30's anywhere, online or in Texas...or I would have likely bought one.  The one downside for me was that all my Compact 9 mags would not have worked in the gun.  So I looked at the P2000 and the 2000SK.  The SK was to short in the grip for my hand (I like 1911's with thick scales if that helps), my little finger had no where to go.

The P2000 was very similiar to the USP, smoother, but more comfortable.  Pointed better for me than a USPc they had in the case. I can use my old mags, and I like the gun overall. I would rate the ergos as a bump up from the USP.  I dont like the decocker, but I guess I will learn to live with it, and I really dont like not having a manual safety, but I'll get over that as well.

I ordered a P2000 from CDNN today for $660. Looking forward to trying it out. I have several HK's and love the brand.

Wow, $660?  I wonder if they have the LEM for the same price.  Did carrying the USPc cocked and locked bring the trigger quite a bit closer?  I have short fingers, and a short trigger would be very useful.  I would prefer the USPc, as I would rather carry condition one, but if it's less ergonomic I may have to go with the P2000.

Trigger was much shorter with the hammer cocked on the USPc.  But I would not carry a gun that didnt fit me in all conditions, not just with the hammer back...

Trigger reach was about the same on the P2000.

YMMV.

I WISH the the P2000 had the P30's mag release.  That would be perfect in my opinion, even without a manual safety.

I hear you on that, but the way I see it is that I would carry condition 1, so if I was firing DA I wouldn't be terribly concerned if my mechanics were perfect or not.   I'm gonna see if I can find both around town here to play around with.

Howdy,
The P2000 is a bit slimmer in the grip than the USP compact.  You get four backstraps with the 2000 so finding the right fit shouldn't be a problem.
Don't worry about the lack of safety with the 2000.  The double action pull is pretty tough/long so it's nothing to worry about.
I definatley recommend the P2000!
Take care
