I carry a USPF .45 for concealed carry and I have finally come to the harsh truth that it is just to big for CC.  I find myself leaving it at home more and more and while summer approaches here in Iowa, I am already beginning to dread it.

I would like the USPC in a .45 because it mimics my fullsize the best as far as operation is concerned.  I would hope that it would be much more easily concealed though.  I also would prefer not to make a caliber change.

The P2000SK seems appealing to me because of its size.  I am not sure how I would like the V3 as I have always enjoyed the V1 on the USPF.  I am under the impression that the shorter grip on the P2000SK would keep the bottom of the mag from printing so much which is a major problem for me because of my lean frame.  Perhaps with this feature I can carry more on the 3 o'clock as opposed to the current 5 o'clock.

I hear the USPC .45 is a wonder to shoot.  Most prefer it to the .40 which I hear is a bit snappier.  I would assume that the SK would be even more so.  The 3.27" bbl on the SK seems a bit short and I may find the increased muzzle flash and recoil so unfavorable that I would regret even buying it in the first place.

Any opinions on the .40 155 or 180 grain bullets for a 3.27" bbl?

Thank you much for your suggestions!

If you ever shoot the USPC .45acp, you'll never look at the .40, IMO. Many say their compact will outshoot the fullsized brother & mine seems to follow this pattern as well.

I freely admit to being anti-.40......................

I have a USP  40.    I use 155 Federal Hydra-Shok JHP that size seems to be the sweet spot from the Ballistics that I have seen.  AS far as the smaller grip on it yes you can tell. I am trying to see if there is any after market products for that clip to extend the mag out.  You are suppose to be able to use USP compact mags that will fit in the 2000sk.

I use USPc .40 mags in my P2000sk .40 all the time.  They work fine.

Thank you for the replies.

I've seen the USP mags in the 2000sk  (I think).  I believe the bottom of the mag extends past the hand grip (Which is to be expected.)

This feature would not benefit me when carrying concealed as I seem to have an issue with the bottom of the mag printing and/or catching on my shirt.  At the range, the mag interchangability would definitly be a bonus.

I can not seem to find a P2000sk in a V1.  Something I should have mentioned in my original post was that I am not willing to give up my manual safety.  Others don't have a problem with the LEM trig, but it comes down to personal preferance.

Reading the reviews, both pistols are excellent.  I don't think I can go wrong with either one.  I'm leaning towards the USPC in a .45 but I must admit that I have yet to actually handle a 2000sk.  The closest place for me to do this is 100 mi away.  I think a road trip is in order this weekend.

(And no, I can't afford both.)

Thanks again.

The Variant 1 P2000 does not have a safety.  None of the P2000 series have safeties.  I myself prefer the P2000 Variant 2 LEM trigger.  I will turn it into a Variant 1 soon enough.
