I took my Concealed Carry Handgun Training class this past Saturday. I actually surprised myself at how good my pattern was at the range. I'm not bragging, but my shot pattern looked alot better than the other 13 people in the class. Before this class, I had only shot two magazines (24 rounds) in my new SA XD-40. I bought it back in Jan. The rest of the class had Glocks, Browning, Beretta, and two guys had revolvers. That class actually boosted my self  confidence with a handgun. I went to the range kinda nervouse that I would not have a good shot pattern. However, I was very shocked. My question is, Is my XD-40 a good enough gun to conceal carry? Have I got enough knock down power? I know it's not really what calibor you carry, it's shot placement.  I also have a Beretta M-9 , but would not pick it over the XD-40 to conceal carry. I really think I have my self a good, reliable handgun. Any advice, good or bad is greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

I carry .40 caliber.  I think it's an excellent carry caliber.  If you're happy with your gun and  you shoot it well, you're in good shape.
