Up until two days ago I thought 1911's were pretty plain and ugly. I somehow came to the realization that they are some of the finest looking handguns made. I started doing a little research and have pretty much decided to order a Kimber Warrior. Before I take the $1100 plunge, I have a couple of questions. In another thread a member said the warrior came with most of the stuff you will want or need to add to others. Being new to the platform I don't know what this means. What am I getting with the Kimber Warrior that I would have to add or couldn't even get with another choice? Also, the Warrior lists a 7 round mag capacity. Does that just mean it only comes with a 7 rounder or that it can only take 7 rounders? Is the actual grip longer on other models that come with 8 round mags? Lastly, is $1100 a good price with one mag? Anyone know of a better deal? Thanks in advance, my finger is getting ichy and wants to press the order button, but I want to hear from you guys first.

The below pic is a Springfield Milspec which is representative of the current plain jane 1911s. Standard sights, spur hammer, standard grip safety, standard single sided thumb safety, short trigger and arched mainspring housing.

The Warrior has integrated light rail, Novak style low profile night sights, Commander style hammer, beavertail grip safety, ambidextrous thumb safety, long trigger, forward cocking serrations, beveled magazine well and a flat mainspring housing with lanyard.

AS to Price I picked up my Warrior used LNIB off of Gunbroker for $850.

As to Magazines the original 1911 magazine is of a 7 round capacity design. Many manufacturers now make 8 and 10 round magazines. The Warrior as any other 1911 will accept these magazines. Check the FAQ at the top of the Forum.

I am investing in my Springfield loaded I picked up for $450. Spending a little more and I'm gonna have a gun that looks as nice as it shoots.

First off, WELCOME to the 1911 Disease! It's just as addictive as the Black Rifle Disease...

-Forged Steel Frame & Slide
-Light / Accessory Rail
-Match Grade & Hand Fitted Frame, Slide, Barrel, Bushing & Chamber.
Extended Ambi-Safety
-High BTGS
-Beveled Mag Well
-Extended Mag Release
-Extended Slide Release
-Polished Breech Face

Basically, it's a 'Factory Custom' 1911 with MANY refinements... Could you get a better 1911? Yes, but it'd cost you a LOT more money...

Basically you're gonna have a nice, sweet shooting 1911, with a nice trigger with Overtravel stop, properly fitted, uses SOME MIM parts, but no biggie...

The Government size 1911 (like the Warrior) comes 'standard' with a 7 Round Magazine.

You COULD buy 'aftermarket' 1911 Mags from Wilson, CMcC, and others that are 8 Round mags (So you'd have 8 in the mag + 1 in the chamber instead of the standard 7 in the mag + 1 in the chamber)...

The grips of Government size 1911s are standard. The 8rd ones just use mags with a different type of 'follower/spring' setup. The mags are the same size...

The pricing will vary depending upon your area. I've seen a Kimber DESERT Warrior in a local gunshop for $975 with two mags, but it sold quickly.

Personally, I'd say get it (price dependent, I don't know of prices in Texas)! That's one HECK of a SWEET 1911 to have for your first one!

Thanks for the replies guys. I can see where this whole thing is going. Damn you 1911 disease! I'm about to buy the Warrior, but have already started planning on which ones to get next.

There is a Springfield in my future as well as another Kimber and a Colt. I guess I need to concentrate on the task at hand and stat amassing quality mags for my new obsession.

You'll like them, or maybe you will.

I do as do most everyone I know that have shot mine or own their own. Extremely comfortable pistols.
