I have a TLE/RL II that I really like. I like the rail, and I have gear to fit it. I was wondering if I could have a whole new upper half fitted to it?? Is there anything that would keep this project from being a success?

I'd like to have both a conventional 1911 upper half, with internal extractor, no front serrations and maybe lower profile sights to go with the Series II upper half with CDP type night sights, and internal extractor.

I'm sure someone like Novak or Tripp or Yost could do this, right?

Any idea on cost?? Or what you would think would be reasonable, but not necessarily what it WILL cost.

Thanks!!!!

Sure it could be done. Probably cheaper to sell this one and buy a new pistol though. If you needed a new barrel too, cost would easily go over $600 with new sights.

Sights, $200-$250. Barrel (fitted) $300. Slide $200. Fitting would be at least $100. Then you still need to buy an extractor, firing pin stop and have it refinished.

Don't want a new pistol. Want options with the old pistol...

Something different...

I was in the same boat you are in, but a new top end was too expensive for the reward.

I hear you. Just a "project" that I'm considering having done.

SGB, I was only $7 off! Of course I was figuring a Kart barrel and night sights. I had Novaks on my Kimber, and now I like Heinies.

I mean I guess I could find a 25th Anniversary Kimber and have a little work done to it to get what I want, but I think it would be more interesting to have matched uppers to one 1911 frame.

SGB and Jack, would the firing pin safety cause any problems with a series 70 style slide? Just wondered.

How about just buying a Warrior?

Contemplated it, but if I were to go that route I'd rather get a $400-$600 Series I "beater" and put $600-$800 in custom work to it.

You know?
