does anyone own or have shot a star .45?? I have a friend selling his for 175....is it wirth the price

From everything I have heard the Star PD is an excellant 45. It was the first light weight single action 45 to be mass produced. If it is in good shape I would pick it up without hesitation for $175.

I've had a STAR PD and own PS. The PD was a handful under recoil, I sent it down the road and regret that decision... The PS is the similar to a standard 1911, minus the grip safety. I vastly prefer it over... a Colt 1911 at much more $$.

Either way $175 is an OK price.

Being a light alloy frame, it takes the beating.
So if it's not too beat up AND you get to try it out first, why not nab it?
The couple of Star PD's I have had were fine, btw.
No longer made, I should have kept one.
