Is there any hard data thats proves any of these to be superior to the others? I'm trying to decide which to carry and I have tested all of these in my SIG and XD and they all feed fine. All kick and feel the same too.
What do you guys feel is the best bullet and why? I'm leaning toward the Gold Dots only because I saw Speers promotional video on why they are the best. But I wanted to get all the "facts" before I decide. Thant you!

P.S. I have carry guns in 9mm and .40 and one .45 I occationally carry.

I've seen people shot with all three and I like the GoldDots the best. The hollowpoint always opened up and caused major tissue damage. I've seen the Winchester and Federal not expand and while cause a good wound due to shot placement they did not expand at all.

Any one of those is good.  I prefer Gold Dizzots.  But if someone made me carry either of the others I wouldn't bat an eye.

I think the only exception was the .40 smith 165gr hydrashoks.  I heard they were really underpowered.

The Hydrahok is a 3rd generation JHP that is far inferior compared to newer 4th generation JHP's like the Gold Dot, Ranger T and HST. The Federal Hydrahok is probably the most studied and tested JHP bullet as the FBI, DoD and numerous private interests evaluated its performance in a variety of media. In its generation, it was one of the best performing JHP's availible, though it did have certain weaknesses. The Hydrashok has a tendency to "collect" debris in the nose of the bullet which prohibits expansion. Consequently, this hinders the reliability of expansion and some testing showed only 1 in 3 rounds expanded in a given medium. Testing also showed the post of the original design had a tendency to move flesh out of the way, decreasing the wounding ability of the bullet. The post also had a minimal affect on expansion, as it expanded nearly the same with the post lathed out. The latest Hydrashok has a redesigned post that flattents as opposed to remaining upright and expansion has improved. The Hydrashok has a good record of being effective in Officer Involved Shootings and is still used by many gov/LE agencies. Of all 3rd generation JHP's the Hydrashok is certainly one of the best and a solid performer. Alot of people continue to use the Hydrashok with great success, but its outclassed by 4th generation JHP's.

The answer depends on caliber and bullet weight.

Once those are specified, and answer can be given.

If you haven't read this forum you need to. Some excellent observations from some who works in a morgue about what works and doesn't work.  He likes Gold Dots.

Diamondback
A 45 may not expand but it will never be smaller than .45.

Thanks again for the links! So what about bullet weight? Are the heavier or lighter ones better in stopping potential.

Heavy 9mm vs. light 9mm......which is more deadly? Same goes for 40 and 45???

Winchester Ranger, Federal HST & Gold Dot are all excellent.

Hydrashock was state of the art 20 years ago but is eclipsed by more modern designs.

In 9mm go with 124Gn Gold dot or 147Gn Ranger or HST.

In 40S&W go with 180gn gold dot, Ranger or HST

in 45acp go with 230Gn Gold dot, Ranger or HST

Gold Dots.

Some of the Winchester Rangers are as good, but Win plays games with about a half dozen different bullets labled ranger.  The Ranger T is the 4-th gen version.  Since Win makes it hard to buy screw 'em.

"Old_Painless" and his site pretty much rocks!  (BTW, retired LEO and I hear "we're" trying to run him for office in '08...)
