What do you guys use for your self defense rounds?  I'd like to buy some Speer GD for self defense, and was wondering if which grain count is best.  115, 124, or 147.....or is it a matter of personal preference?

Most seem to go for 124+P, or 147 Grn.

I prefer 147's, as the hollow channel is significantly bigger, and I've seen at least 1 test of reliable expansion where the 147's performed better  through fabric as they clogged full less often than 124+P.

However, plenty of people swear by 124+P, as they go by the thought process that the faster velocity leads to more reliable expansion than the 147's.

I think either is fine compared to older generation designs of hollowpoint.

I carry Gold Dot 124 grain +p in my G19. Very good round, IMO.

I use the 147gr GDHP's in my G19C, and 124+P GDHP's in my Kahr CW9.

Whichever one you shoot the best.

That's overlooked too often.

Placement is the real power in a handgun round.  Other than that, they're all pretty much the same.
