I have a chance to trade my s&w 342-1 for two different guns need your help deciding 1 is a taurus pt1911 250 rounds thru it 2 is a sig p227 never been shot. My predicament is I really want a 1911 however the p227 is worth more. Help me make a choice. Thank you

If you must trade, the P227 without a doubt.

The PT1911, while not that bad, is still a budget 1911. The 227, is a service pistol that will prove to be far more rugged than the Taurus.

If you have to trade, no question: the 227.  They are amazing pieces of machinery.

Taurus 1911's in my experience have sucked badly. I would never own one personally. A few friends have.

I would go with the 227, I have not had the opportunity to shoot one, but I was able to handle one at a gun show. It felt really good in my hands.

If you want a 1911, hold out for a Range Officer or Loaded model from springfield.
