But I'm torn between three pistols.

Browning P35 MkIII 9mm
HK USP 9mm
Para-Ordnance P18 9mm

my 1st choice: glock--nevermind, you already have it narrowed down

oh a selction...of your choices, a BHP or the USP, but more than likely, i'd take and recommend the BHP just slightly over the USP(personal preference: i prefer the slimmer steel frame, single action trigger, and better grips)

Given your choices . . . I'd take the BHP, hands down.

However, I think you should consider the following also:

Glock 17
Glock 34
SIG P226
SA XD9
S&W M&P9
Beretta 92-series

I want a cocked and locked pistol, too.

Glock 17 - Liked it better than the XD or M&P.
Glock 34 - Liked it better than the G17.
SIG P226 - Had one, sold it, didn't like it.
SA XD9 - Used one, didn't like it.
S&W M&P9 - Lked it okay, I don't like the way it breaks down.
Beretta 92 - The safety is backwards.

Either this

or the High Power. All others fail

The USP and Para will probably have a better trigger than the HP.

Personally, none of the above would be on my short list:

Glock 34/19/17
FN-P SAO
CZ SP01

USP9 with a match trigger.

The trigger will be the best of them all (even if you dont get the match- SA USP pulls are actually pretty damn nice- its the DA pull that sucks, moot though since you want to carry it condition 1)

It will also be the least finicky and without question the most accurate mechanically- if you want a gun that WILL run out of the box, I recommend either USP's or Glocks. Simple fact, they just work. My USP 9 is an absolutely awesome handgun, and since it was built for .40 cal, it is also extremely tough.

I'm really starting to like my hipower. It would be the best of the 3 for CCW. Otherwise, I wouldn't sneeze at any of the ones you listed. Especially the HK. I've never shot a par double stack 9mm.

Consider the CZ75. The BHP has more mystique, I guess, but the CZ really feels great and is a terrific shooter. My IDPA scores improved considerably simply by going from Glock 19 (which I still like alot) to the CZ.

19 rounds baby. U can cock and lock the USP too.

Of the choices, I'd go with the Hi-Power.

If not limited to the choices I'd pick a Glock 19 or a Beretta M9

browning parts are everywhere, mags are plentiful, I have yet to meet someone who doesnt like the grip, an improvement on the 1911 and its a classic how can you go wrong????

OOops double tap

I gotta be the odd one here I guess, I had a P-18 and loved it, if you have smallish hands you may not, second choice would be the USP, mags are outragous for either however.

I have Glock 19 and 34 and they don't come out of the safe anymore because they are just not that fun to shoot.
My USPc 45 is the only pistol that I own I would trust my life with and HK has meant nothing but reliability for me so far. If you are looking for 9mm with H&K, you might want to check out P30. That is the next pistol that I am looking forward to purchasing.

If you have to go by your list, get the USP.

Okay, thanks guys.

If you only have one pistol you would trust your life with I hope you only have one pistol.

That being said, to the OP - forget the list. If you want the best hi cap 9mm you need a G34 or G17.

From your list I'd go with the USP.

If I had to pick ONE of the three that you posted, it would be the BHP, without a doubt.

USP is the tacticoolest of that list.
