I'll update the review as I get more experience with it. The holster is going to be used with a Steyr M9, which is approximately the same size as a Glock 19.

I had ordered a SmartCarry holster about a week ago, and received it in the mail today. It's pretty small and compact, and I immediately tried it out. Having read the online information about it, I didn't even bother reading the manual.

As you can see from their website, it's more or less a simple pouch for you handgun and an extra mag which is worn sort of "loin cloth" style under your pants. The gun sits in the pouch and points straight down your crotch. I found it more comfortable slightly to the right of dead center, as "junior" hangs down a little to the left and I didn't want to crowd him.

The holster itself is made from a denim-like material, while the belt portion fastens with velcro and is elastic to allow for expansion and contraction. I tried out the holster under my regular jeans, and it was pretty comfortable. I don't have any prior experience with holsters, but I can't imagine how a holster could be more comfortable than this when you're going for total concealement and the ability to wear shorts/Tshirts. The cool thing is that it was almost undetectable under some casual shorts, which is going to be great in the summertime.

I recently bought a KelTec P3AT, and it would fit in that holster as well although it wasn't made for it.

Extracting the gun will take some practice, and will be easier if you don't wear a belt. Sitting down with the holster is not bad either.

All in all, I think this will work very well and I'm looking forward to carrying more often. I'll update this review once I get a little more time with it under my belt.

If people were killing themselves with this holster, I think we'd have heard about it.

I wore it for some time today. The P3AT fits in the nice and snug, even though it's a lot smaller than the Steyr. I also wore the Steyr for the first time today under some khaki shorts. I felt a little self-conscious about printing, but I don't think anyone noticed. The pistol was in the position recommended by the manufacturer, basically right behind the front zipper. Sitting down wasn't too uncomfortable either. After I got home just now, I played around with the positioning some more. It seems like the holster positioned right behind the front pocket of your pants would be a good option; it conceals nicely, because even if the grip sticks out a little bit, you've got several seams and such to break up the outline. Comfortable too...

I've worn the holster over the past few weekends, and have become more used to it.

With the Steyr, it's most comfortable with the gun on the left side of my groin, so that the butt is just to the right of your zipper. I wore it with khaki shorts and a knit shirt tucked in and it was virtually undetectable. The only issue is when you sit down. The grip of the gun is pushed forward by your belly (this may not be an issue if you're kinda skinny), and the muzzle of the gun bunches up the fabric of the gun. No big deal - just pinch the fabric of the shorts and pull it back towrds you to release the tension.

I can't really imagine a holster being more comfortable or more concealable than this one. The little Keltec P3AT also fit in the holster, but the Keltec's spare mag slides down too far to be easily gripped; no problem here either. The instructions mentioned that you can simply use a clothes pin to make the spare mag pocket shallower. The Keltec is more easily carried on your right hip under the pocket. In that position, it's a non-issue when you sit down.

I highly recommend this holster if you're looking for something concealable, especially if you wear shorts/Tshirts and the like...
