Hey guys I have been checking the boards here and haven't seen much as far as reviews or anything about the sp2022 and I saw one at my local academy on sale for 399.

Is this a good deal? I currently have a Glock 17 and was looking for something DA/SA instead of DA only so I was considering the sp2022 or the Beretta 92FS.

Any info about these would be awesome, especially with reference to CCW. Thank you!

Great gun!
Mine has been totally reliable. Go to the sig forum if you want more info.
Best of the Sig poly's.

There were some threads on the 2009 and 2022 a few years ago.

I found the grip of the SP2009 to be hand filling, but I'm 6' 1" and average to large hands.  They are a solid value, though I think that the grip is a bit thicker than a G-17/19.

They conceal OK, I own a 2340 I have carried in a DeSaintis paddle under a heavier jacket. Fine for winter carry. Typical full sized handgun .

I think the SigPro is a highly underrated handgun mine is in .357 with a .40 barrel. I love it.

I am blah on most .40 S&W loads, but I concur the the bold part.

Aside from the French contract, I wonder why more are not sold?

In use by the US Army, Colombian Army, DEA, and Canadian RCMP, many US municipal LE agencies have picked it up.

The 250,000 + for the French is most important of these contracts.

I actually have one in 9mm and .357 sig.  They are great.  Use the 9mm as my carry gun.  Never had a problem with either of them.  Eats any ammo I put through it.

The SigPro series are great pistols.  If you get one the newer ones with the lanyard loop you'll want to cut it off.

Hey guys, thanks for the response. It looks like I will be getting the 2022 if i get another 9mm. Although I guess now its a toss up between that and the 1911. Still don't know. Maybe I will consult the coin gods...

Heads sig...
Tails 1911...

A 1911 for SD/HD, SHTF, Zombie Uprising for $399?

I'll take heads for the SigPro, Alex.

It's supposed to be in use by some US Army tank crews as their sidearm.

From what I've heard, it's the most underrated SIG there is - and supposedly has a better trigger than the other DA/SA SIGs. I'll warn you from experience though, the grip wasn't anywhere near as comfortable for me as it looked like it would be. You should hold one first if you haven't already.

If you are talking about the 5,000 that TACOM bought in 2004, they were NOT for US Armed Forces.  TACOM also handles Foreign Military Sales.  Cannot remember if these (and the Ruger P-95's) went to Iraqi security forces, or elsewhere.

Oh, well that's where everyone gets the idea then. I've seen statements that they've actually been used by tank crews, but I wouldn't be surprised if the statements were false.

They were issued to the Iraqi Army, along with the Walther P99. Ive worked with IA troops carrying both pistols. The Iraqi Army did later standardize on the P99.

For the OP: The 2022 is the absolute best deal going for a 9mm sidearm right now., hands down, bar none. The French manage to use 250,000 of them without breaking them all to hell. Trust me, that says alot!

My daughter just got one for her first centerfire handgun (w/my endorsement, of course) and she is very pleased with it. I had to find out the hard way, though, that the Sig sight tool doesn't work with the 2022 Pro slide, it won't fit into the tool, so I had to use a brass punch to drift out the factory sights and install the Trijicon night sights she wanted. It worked, and the sight  tubes are unharmed, but it was a PITA, for certain. Other than that, I like her 2022 Pro better than my German Police P6. Better trigger and a bit more accurate.

I did a lot of research a year or so ago and considered the 2022 (in .40) the best option for a carry piece on the market.  Then they stopped importing them, removing one of the prime requirements on my list.  So I bought a 226.  Then they started importing them again  Now I wish I'd waited.  The 2022s I've handled handled better than the 226 that I've got.

I think I saw one of these for $390 at a local shop in 9mm.  Should I fo?  How do these compare in size to a Glock 19?  Are they about the same size?  Do they conceal as well?  I'm thinking I need a more concealable 9mm, so that might fit the bill if it feels okay in the hand.

They are great.  I would run fast back down there and get it for that price.  It's so much more than a Glock and will out shoot a Glock for group size 10 ways to 1.

It is about the same length of the G-19, but has the height of a G-17.  I liked the grip, but it is a bit thicker in circumference (due I think to the space for the decocker.).

That is a good price.

I'll probably head up there about noon and see what I can see.  They also had a P6 I remember for $460, but I thought that was kinda high, and they don't really fill the hand like I like, but I wouldn't mind having one either.
