I'm looking at A NIB Sig p228 at my local gun shop, only problem is that it does not have the German proof marks, should I keep looking for one with the proof marks? It says made in Germany, I think on the frame, is the whole gun made in Germany?

probably made here.
BUT...
So far no one has found any difference in quality or reliability between US made and German made SiGs. The German made ones don't seem to command any better price, or be more desirable.

If I were you, I'd just go for it.

I don't recall 228's ever being made on this side of the pond.  Just the 229 (and maybe the 239?).  If the price were right I'd buy it and not give it a second thought.
