So I heard the mixed reviews about the SIg 938 but still wanted one. Since I have never had anything but good luck with Sig personally I bought one. Brought it home cleaned lubed shot it. First hundred rounds I had 15 of so mixed failures. Brought it in cleaned it lubed it worked the slide a few hundred times by hand. Brought it out and shot another hundred rounds through it and had only a could malfunctions. Brought it in cleaned it lubed it and went back out and put about 150 rounds through it with zero issues. So as some  people have mentioned it appears this little gun needs a bit of a break in period. Now that its running right it looks like it will be a great little shooter.

Now for my question. On the inside of the slide  where the barrel rides through the opening there look like there are little groves and weld mounds. The groves almost resemble grooves for gear teeth but they are really faint. They look pretty regular in appearance so I'm thinking they were from the machining not wear. I've never noticed this in other Sigs though is this normal for this gun? Tried to take pics but they would not show up.

What ammo are you using? I've put through 100 rounds of  FMJ's for break-in. No failures.
Haven't tried hollow points yet.

Winchester white box 115 grain and Federal Premium 124 grain JHP. mix of both. Its seems to be running both well now but it took a few hundred rounds. Does yours have what almost likes like gear teeth grooves real faintly on the bottom of the round opening in the slide for the barrel?

I got one last week, put 100 of 115gr federal and 25 rounds of JHP had zero issues. I don't see any gear marks either. Can you post pictures of yours?

I put another 100 rounds through it worked perfectly think it just needed a break in. It does still have those marks though.

It won't let me post pictures of them for some reason. I did take some though If you PM me you e-mail address I can e-mail you a picture I took of it.

OP I don't have mine with me, it hasn't got enough rounds through it to made the EDC rotation. I'll post your pictures so others can have a look. I don't recall seeing anything like that on mine, but I'll have a look tonight

Got my wife the Blackwood edition for Christmas.  She loves it.  About two hundred rounds through it so far no failures of any kind.  American Eagle 124 FMJ and Federal 124 Hydra Shock combination. Using the seven round extended mags.
