Is supposed to be top of the line SIG. I believe (and this from the internet) that SIG took 1911 STX's and gave them a BW facelift just like they did with the P226R. Now if this is true thats a lot of gun. I have a Sig 1911 Stainless Target and i love it. Now i suggest that if you are interested you move on fast a sig took down the 1911BW from their site and that could only mean one thing. Hope this helps.

Thanks

no, the STX is still the top but the differences would just be a matter of taste...like the rail and all Nitron look???...get the Blackwater as the STX doesn't have it...like different grasping grooves, adjustable target/combat night sights a flat top and grooved slide along with the two tone look???...get the STX...

Kind of reminds me of the Kimber SIS but with the Sig look to the 1911 and with an external extractor.

Well the ex- CEO of Kimber now runs Sig.  Maybe that's where the resemblence comes in.

My attempt to own one was denied by Sig.
They stopped taking orders on them.  They are replacing it with the "Tac Ops".  Supposed to be the same gun, sans Blackwater markings.
My dealer said that the Blackwater was listed in the 2010 price guide.  It even has a full page listing in the 2010 Catalog (Page 38).

Why would you want a "Blackwater" 1911 just wondering.  You will just end up paying more for a pistol that is the same as another model because it has a logo on it.  Plus come on it is blackwater I could think of a hundred different organizations I would rather have stamped on the side of my pistol other then blackwater.  I believe Walmart ranks higher on my list!!!!

some want it for the mystique of Blackwater...some because they think it rare...me, I wanted it because I am a Southpaw and thought I wanted a 1911 with light rail...this is the only one SiG makes with the ambi safty other than the STX which I already have) that doesn't have a light rail...I don't care too much WHAT they call it but please don't put "tactical" on it...

I do not know if I would go that far.  I would never trade my TRP for a Sig 1911 any day of the week.

Very bold statement there.

If you want one that badly, there is one FS on Gun Broker.

I just picked up a SIG 1911BW today. It looks and feels amazing. It came for $950 out the door. A very competitive price compared to the TRP's. Feels like a 2 lb trigger pull and the checkering and fit and feel are just what I like. I'll need to change out the BW grips with some VZ's, but the BW ones will do for now. I'm excited to go shoot it next week to see how it does. Not bad for a discontinued gun. I'll have pictures up later tonight or tomorrow.

A guy at work has one.  Very nice with the typical feel, function and accuracy of any "high-end" production 1911.  I probably wouldn't intentionally buy one with other options like a Warrior or a TRP but the guy at work practically stole it from the guy he bought it from so I'd be perfectly happy if that were the case.

Better hurry, at least one is on Gunbroker now if we're thinking of the same place(NW Houston).

Doc,

I take care of my stuff and I wear my STX in a holster and mine is only Nitron'd on the slide but mine looks as new since  late 2006...

So far I like the finish on it. It almost looks grey, or like a very light, dull black. Still looks smooth as ever though. Still waiting for the weekend for a range report...

Who makes good IWB holsters for the FS SIG 1911 (non rail). Im having trouble finding reviews on any of the systems ive seen. So far blade tech is winning . Thanks.

I'm not sure if I've ever seen a 1911 that thought it needed to say "1911" on the slide.

Ferrari does write the name of their cars on the back. Some times with ink too. My .02
