Looking at buying a Kimber in the near future, so I'd like to know which is better and why? Thanks.

Okay, after doing a bit of research I've found that the Kimber Custom II's, even with their FPS's, seem to pass the muster as being a pretty good, out-of-the-box pistol. I especially like the LAPD SWAT pistol, the one without the light rails (I guess that would be the CUSTOM II/TLE).

One last thing, do all NEW Kimbers have the EXTERIOR extractor?? Thanks.

EDITED TO ADD: What the difference between the CUSTOM II and the CUSTOM II/TLE?? Once again, thanks!

Dman, then I should hurry up and pick up a KIMBER CUSTOM II with INTERNAL extractor before they becom harder to find.

Lumpy, what do you think of the exteranl extracator desing? Seems that YAM thinks it's okay, now that KIMBER has addressed the MIM quality. Just curious as to what you think.

Not a problem, Hawkeye. But in my case, I was just asking because I'm the type that likes to make informed purchases, especially when it comes to firearms.

Man, oh man! I went to the local gun shop to check out prices again and guess what I found? A very nice Custom TLE/RL II for $1,039. The display model also had SureFire's newest pistol light! All I can say is "Wow!" This thing looked great and FELT great in my paw. The checkering, while not custom grade, felt great. I'm trying to justify the purchase of this thing, but I know I can't. This pistol seems to be open-carry/duty only, because of its light rail. Not the way to go if I'm looking for a carry piece (the Custom TLE II™ would be the more appropriate choice here). All I know is that Kimbers kick ass!

Edited to add: HILTON YAM appears to be up to something with his 10-8 package, so if I'm going to shell out $1000 for a Kimber, I'd gladly give up 200 more to get a YAM 10-8 pistol. Man, this gun addiction sure is costly!

To me the external extractor doesn't seem to follow the original lines of the 1911. Both work, I just like the look of the internal better.
