Hello one and all,

I’ve had a love affair with the 1911 for about 10 years now and am in the market for a new “carry” 1911 style auto.

Been looking at the Smith & Wesson 1911 SC --  Commander length barrel and the alloy frame.

Can anyone give me a good, honest opinion of this pistol ?    Not a “I shot one about a year ago” or “my buddy’s buddy has one . . .” or  “pistol so and so would be better”  but someone that really owns one and shoots it – a lot  !

So . . .

any owners out there ? ? ?

Thanks  ! !

I've shot them, don't own them but I do want one. Does that count?

I shot a friends brand new one a couple of months ago.  He had put 8rnds through it and let me try.  OMG! I want one!!!!!!!!!!  I shot at 6 plates at about 17yards and had no problem knocking them down.  If I recall I went 13 out of 16 from that distance!  I have a full size Govt model S&W and I like it very much but if I could afford an SC now I would be carrying that instead!  Soon!!!

I just got the NRA's American Rifleman for Sept 2005 on pages 90 & 91, they did an evaluaton on the S&W 1011Sc, maybe worth a look if you're seriously contemplating buying one. Here in So. Calif, Turners is currently having a sale on those, $780, transfer fees are in addition.
