I think the longer barreled version is OK if you have a specific need for a lightweight revolver in this caliber and don't need a high level of concealment. ("casual" concealment rather than deep concealment...backpacking maybe, etc.) but I think the snub is a goofy idea. Why bother with something with so large an "envelope" with such a short barrel? With a CCW gun, the butt...not the barrel...is the harder part to conceal, and for range use that ultra short barrel and light weight will still make this a not-so-fun gun to blast with. Frankly, I would look for a nice, older, REAL M27, which could be bought for less money and would give you much better service and enjoyment. There was one in the EE a while back at a good price, but I do not know the seller. Or, if CCW is your goal, a "K" frame magnum or "J" frame snub.

Agree with the 442 / 642 series revolvers if you want small AND lightweight. They have been unseen in the very best places for decades! Steel frame versions are available in SS only these days...M640, but it is also made in .357mag., although it is a real handful.

For something a bit larger, I would pass on the .45 and go with the M65 in 3in. I prefer this one to the N framed guns for concealment, and even then it is one you will have to work a bit to CCW.
