I just took a S&W 40VE on a trade and not sure what to do with it. Its the newer model with the rail. S&W autos dont excite me that much and neither does the 40 cal. Its got a hogue rubber grip on it and it feels real good in the hand and points well, i'm just not that excited about it is all. Its in excellent condition with the box, mags, papers and everything. It doesn't have many rounds through it and doesn't show any wear marks.

My options are keeping it for the hell of it or trading it on something at the gunshop. I would do a trade plus cash on a Springfield 1911 mil spec or maybe some type of AK if the shop happens to have one. I've already got an SAR 1 and a 1933 Colt 1911, but I've been wanting a new Springfield mil spec and I know the shop has good deals on AKs when he has them in.

How much should I expect on a trade for this gun? That is if the shop even wants to do a trade for it.

I would guess you could get $200-$225 for it on trade.

We give $125 for Sigmas.

Not from a dealer, you won't.

You can try a private sell, you'll probably get a bit more. But it might be a longer wait.

I would suggest you shoot it first and see how you like it. I have 2000 rounds through mine without a failure and has the best ergonomics of any handgun I have used.

Second, Go on the www.smith-wessonforum.com and post an add in the classified section.

+1 (except for the part about ergonomics...Sigmas aren't my thing, but different strokes)

If you don't have a medium sized gun, it might be nice to have. For CCW, or maybe home defense.

I have a sigma also, while it is not the best, it works. I keep it in my truck/boat. It is my beater gun. If stolen it was cheap. It fits in my G-21 holster nicely. High caps are cheap. I say keep it for a rainy day.
