I have a 386PD I love the trigger and feel of the piece, and I love the caliber and power, but I want a full size revolver now!  I see that 'moon clips' are offered for both of the 625 and 627 and that is one area whre I am adamant.  I don't mind the 357 speedloaders, but there's no substitute for moon clip speed!

So which one would you go with?

I like the 625's.  Mostly because I really like the 45 acp round.  And you can also use 45 auto rim. If you hand load you can do a lot with the 45 AR and 45 Super in the 625.

That said, there is nothing wrong with the 327 either but they cost another 400 or so?  It just did not turn my crank.

Now there isn't much diff in price or the actual pistol you get between the 625 and 625JM.  Grips, gold bead front sight and a trigger, all of which you can put on a 625 if you want.  I don't care for the grips or the gold sight, so it was not worth it for the JM serial no and the trigger for me.  I know a lot of people that like the JM grips though. I just like the finger grooves.

I will say this, the rest of the 625 is the same, and they are serious shooters.  Mine shoots right at an inch @25 yards.

What else do you own?  If you already own .357s and .45ACPs then I'd say it's a toss up.  If you only own one of them then I'd stick to what you already have.  I'm in the market for a 625 because I shoot 1911s and don't want to get into another caliber.

But do you already own ANYTHING in .45ACP?  If so, you've got your answer IMHO.

In the best AR15.com tradition -  GET BOTH

I love my 625 with full moon clips - reloading is so fast it is amazing.  Don't have any experience with moon clips in a .357 mag.  My only .357 is a vintage Model 27 with a 3&1/2 inch pinned barrel and recessed chambers in the cylinder.  I couldn't bring myself to have her milled to take moon clips - so speedloaders only.  Personally I think that fat short cartridges like the .45 acp are better suited to moon clips particularly with ball ammo.  YMMV

I used to have a .357 levergun as well as a .357 revo.  My intention was to have a combo for the truck that shared cartridges.  My intention was to get a modern version of the cowboy belt with cartridge loops as well as a sling for the rifle with same.  I still think it would have made a great combo, and leverguns and revos are probably the last things they'll take from us.
