Just got a brand new STI TROJAN for a steal at under $1000 cad. Is there anything I need to know about this model ? The only other 1911 I have is a Colt MKIV - Series 80 SSP.

I own one and absolutely love it. Enjoy...

I've never even seen one in person yet, but if you can post a picture of it, that'd be nice!

My personal one...

IMHO you can't get a better deal for under $1,000. You get Les Baer/Wilson/Nighthawk quality at a Kimber price.

I just got rid of my Series 80 after buying a Trojan. The only thing I think I will change are the sights. I am either going with some night sights or a fiber-optic front sight. The only thing I did change is the grips - mine is sporting some VZ Canvass full Gators (lots of traction).

Those are some fine lookin' blasters, boys!

Looks like they changed the frame tooling slightly. The pic from the factory (SigBlueStar's) has a thin trigger guard, txleapd's is pretty thick. Also, it looks like txleapd's frame is not countersunk for the slide stop on the right side of the gun - could be though, small pic. The factory pic does look older as it has the flattened-type frontstrap. My Trojan is a 2003 model, but has the thinner trigger guard. Maybe it has to do with manufacture dates - they bought Lone Star Armament's CNC machinery on which LSA used to make their frames a couple of years ago. Anyone know anything?

I will say that STI barrels rock. My Kimbers picked up fingerprint etching like I drink acid, but my Trojan's barrel never picks up a mark except from the slide operating over the barrel hood.
