I just want to mention that this is the most underrated/unappreciated model in the Sig line. I recently picked one up not too long ago and it is very accurate, been reliable so far and has one of the best SA triggers I've ever pulled, no joke.

Just thought I'd pass that little tidbit along.

I carried mine everyday for the last 6 months. I love it and it is my first SIG pistol. I shoot it better then my M&P and yes the trigger is awesome.

Great gun!

Stick with the DS/SA version.
The DAO only versions trigger is too long and takes alot of time to get use to IMO.

Is that the small grip?

I am looking at one now for my wife.  She has a Mosquito and I like the ability of changing grips on the SP2022 for her small hands or my large ones.  I can't even fit my finger in the Mosquito's trigger guard without depressing the trigger slightly, and she thinks my P226 and P220 frames are way too large for her hands.

How is the quality compared to Sig's metal frame guns?  (I don't want to start a discussion about how the internet punits Sig's quality used to be better, though.)  What about mags?  Any problems with availablility?

Yes. Came on it when I bought it but I switched it out for the medium.

I bought one from academy a few weeks ago for $399, it's been too cold to get to the range with it so I haven't shot it yet.

Tomorrow at sunup I am packing it up and heading out to put a couple hundred through it, a new G19, and a new Rossi 357 mag.

Man I hope that Rossi action smooths out.

I'd trust my life with it. It's been extremely reliable and accurate. I believe it's issued to the French and Colombian National Police, the Swiss Military Police and the DEA, amongst others.

I would also venture to say that the trigger is just as good, if not better than the classic P series Sigs.

Quality gun, all in all. Comparable to the P series in quality.

Mag availability isn't a huge problem, several online vendors regularly carry them, they are a bit pricey ($30-40).

... and issued to the US ARMY.

While visiting LSA Anaconda, Iraq (aka "Balad" if you're AF) during OIF3, I saw a bunch of Soldiers carrying SIG SP2022s.   Also, a unit passing through our FOB also had them.  I believe they were MP and commo units.

Later in my tour an email was circulated to everyone to keep an eye out for SIG SP2022s because a warehouse was broken into at Camp Taji, and a shitload of SP2022s were stolen.

Swiss framed SP2340.

Pretty sure most of the internet BS about the triggers came from people who got got a hold of a DAO model.....

and BTW I saw Academy still has the current 9mm model for $399.

I have one of the 2340's just like this with the proprietary rail and both grips. bought it at turners a long time ago in .357sig. I love the gun even more than my full sized HK usp but the ammo is so damn pricey I rarely shoot it. I desperately need to get a .40 barrel or one of the conversion barrels in 9mm.

I kick myself for not buying two, got mine NIB for $389 in 2004 (don't know how you even get your hands on a .40 anymore).  The actions remind me of when I shot one of the Texas DPS buyback P220's that were really, really broken in (smooth triggers).  The only thing I'm gonna add is a steel guide rod when I replace the recoil spring.  I have over 9K rounds through mine, and it still performs well.  I was carrying a Beretta 96G Elite as a duty weapon when I bought this and never looked back.  I'm about 230lbs and concealment isn't a prob since it doesn't have the rail, and cut down the floorplate on the mag (shown in pic)...

Also the decock lever and slide stop lever have been improved, so i'll prob replace them w/ SP2022 version.  The slide stop is longer where it goes through the frame/barrel link to make it easier to push out when breaking the weapon down.  The decock lever on the newer models is almost "flipped" when you look at them, making them easier to hit.

"In December of 2004 the U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command at the Rock Island Arsenal awarded SIG SAUER a contract for 5,000 SIG SAUER SP2022 pistols chambered in 9mm."  -Sigsauer.com

You are correct.

I loved mine, I kinda regret selling it. But I got a West German P220, so it was worth it in my book.

If you have a .40 then buy the hicaps at CDNN for $19 and shave the bottom off with a compound mitre saw like i did.......funny how the 9mm hicaps are $10 more than the hicap .40's (12 rounders) hmmm.
