how safe is a sig pistol decocked. if i have a round in the chamber and is decocked and the pistol is dropped and lands on the hammer, will it fire? just curious. also are you supposed to clean the block that holds the firing pin or is that best left up to a qualified gunsmith?

Very safe IMO. When I pack my 220 I keep it this way and it would have to be some foul-up to get it to fire.

It's very safe. The firing pin has it's own safety so it can't move far enough forward to fire the pistol unless the trigger is pulled all the way to the rear unlocking it. You should leave slide disassembly to an armorer, the two roll pins are a once use item only. It doesn't get really dirty in there anyway.

In the age of liability, SIG desided to throw caution to the wind and buck the rest of the handgun world and design a handgun with a trigger system thats completely UN-safe.

I wouldnt get one if I were you.

Sounds like opinion to me. A handgun is only safe if you know how to handle it. That being said the Sig is safe decocked if you follow the rest of their manual. I like their design and feel safe carrying my P226 or P220 but most of the time the Kimber gets the job because I shoot it more.
