I saw a Springfield 1911 w/ night sights, brand new for $650.  I don't recall what specific model it was.  It had a black finish and mahogany grips.  I think it had the rail underneath.

What say you?

Edit:  Post 600 !

If it had a rail, and Novak night sights, it's a seroius steal.  If it's just a loaded model, then it's a decent price, but nothing to get all that excited about.

+1

sounds like it maybe a Operator model--if so, i would jump on it....

It was the 1911-A1 Mil-Spec, I believe.  www.springfield-armory.com/prod-pstl-1911-ms.shtml

The MSRP on SA's site says $640, but I don't think it includes the night sights.  After my .mil discount, I'd be paying $616.  I imagine the Novak night sights are worth about $100.  So it looks like I'm doing allright, but I've never really priced out 1911s before.

Go for it, or sit and wait for a better deal?

Found what I think is the exact same one on GunsAmerica (with the Novak night sights and mahogany grips): www.gunsamerica.com/guns/976568720.htm
And they want $669.

That's  a pic of the "loaded" model.

$616 would be a very decent price.

+1 on it if it has the rail it should be an operator.   That is a good price if it's in good condition.

You purchased wisely.

Personally I think the PX9109L is the best going for a production 1911.

--great buy!

cheapest i have seen em is for ~$650

and you have the loaded model--guide rod under the bbl vs the lack of one on the mil-spec, and night sights are standard i think

check out SA's web site

Dollar for dollar, that's probably the best deal going in 1911 pistols right now.  Its got all the "required" stuff like the sights, beavertail, safety and such.  Unless you really get into the 1911s or competitive shooting, that gun will last you forever without changing anything.
