Replacing the mainspring housing on my TLE/RL II. Can I just keep the old stuff and just replace the housing itself?

Yeah there is no problem with that I wouldn't think. I replaced the mainspring housing on my Springfield 1911 pistol and kept the old stuff no issues.

Coes the II safety system involve the mainspring?  I know the grip safety releases the Swartz type firing pin block.  If you're swapping a different shaped housing, arched for flat, or checkered for grooved, you're fine, just put the guts back in the new one.  If you're doing something different, then your answer will depend on whether the MS is involved with your Seried II safety.
