I'm thinking of getting a P2000sk and have been reading that the recoil of the 357 Sig is like a 9.  Have you guys noticed much difference between the 357 and the 40?  Can you do failure drills noticeably faster with the 357?

My Dept is going to the .357 sig.  We shot all calibers the same day... side by side.  IMHO the .357sig is less felt recoil than 40 or 45.  Yes I would say it is closer to 9mm.  I currently carry Sig P229R in .357SIG!

It's inbetween 9 and 40.  More than 9mm but a tad less than 40 and 45.  It's also a different feel than the other 3.  I shoot it very well whereas I don't shoot the 40 or 45 very well.  Could be the gun, though, I don't know.

In that short of a barrel, you are going to have a helluva lot of blast and noise from a .357 vs a 9mm.  I think 357 really shines in the bigger guns that can take advantage of the extra oomph with more barrel length.  Mine is a P229, and so far I love it.  I think you could get pretty similar ballistic results with +P 9mm in a <3" barrel on a P2000SK though.  

Good point regarding muzzle blast and flash.  My USPc throws a fireball about a foot and a half with practice ammo.  I then tried some defense ammo and found many also produced the fireball, even Federal Premium.  I settled on Corbon as it has no noticable flash.  Not sure what it would be like out of a sk, that would be something.  Oh yeah, it's loud as hell too.  Everyone at the range turns to see what I'm shooting.  They're quite surprised to see it's not a big ass 44 mag or something.  It's a real attention getter!
