I am new to 1911's and want to know if my Rock Island 1911 tactical is a series 70 or 80. I have looked for parts for this gun and have seen that question come up. Thanks for the help!

I'm kind of new as well but my understanding is no firing pin safety means it's series 70.

IIRC: "series 70" or "80" only references 1911s made by Colt manf company

so when I order parts for my RIA, like say an extractor, does it matter if its a series 70 or 80?

The 80 series will have the notch for the firing pin safety and the 70 will not.
