My plunger tube on mt TRP is loose. Loose enough that I can take it out. It lasted about 4k. Appears to be just glued in.

Any ideas on fixing one as I never have. I will not be sending it to springfield for a small issue like this

You can buy a tool from Brownells to stake it in place. I have the Gun Runners tool and it's not hard to stake it in place. Go to blindhogg. com and follow his instructions and you should be good to go. The plunger tube on my TRP is staked well and it has not come loose after +/- 5,000 rounds.

Yea I was just checking that tool. It looks simple to use.

Any reason I need to buy a new plunger tube? Or will this one be fine. I do not see any defect.

If the tube never was staked and the legs are not damaged or flared out, it should be ok to re-use it. You can put a drop of red Loctite on the tube for additional holding power. The staking tool is kind of expensive, but it is nice to have around if you have another tube come off. Warning: 1911 tools have a way of expanding.

Is your TRP stainless or Armory Coat?

Yes.  Spend $15 and buy a barstock Ed Brown plunger tube.  The legs are longer, and will stake better.  Also, you need to take a 1/8" burr bit on a dremel and chamfer the inside of the holes.  This will give more relief for the tube to stake down.  Put a drop of red loctite on each leg, stake it down, and you will never have to mess with it again.  Also, make sure your grips support the plunger tube.  Slim grips don't support the plunger tube as JMB designed them to.

Just did the above to my TRP last week.  While you're at it, check the ejector.  I was able to pull mine out with my fingers.  Red loctite also cured that until I get it pinned permanently.

Its armory coat.

Yes I also checked the ejector. Its still tight and won't budge.

I was worried about have to put my carry gun out of action until I noticed the grips hold the plunger tube in place. Never noticed that before.

Looks like it'll be fine until the tool comes in.

While were talking tools any experience with any of the sear jigs? I dont mind throwing out the money for good tools.
