The HK45C is the best semi-compact carry 45 currently available. It’s a near perfect blend of size, shootability, capacity, and reliability. After putting thousands of rounds through it, I’d call it’s shortcomings twofold: the grips are entirely too slick, and the elephant foot mag is too bulky.

Some GT5000 grip tape has fixed issue 1, and some careful dremel/sanding work has fixed number 2.

With a low profile baseplate 8 rounder, it’s very easily concealable, with a shaped-10 rounder it’s still fairly easy, and the standard 8 rounder is a perfect in between.

I carry my HK45c regularly under just a teeshirt. Fantastic carry gun. I haven’t modified any of my elephant magazines but I did contour a bunch of my HK45 baseplates and I usually just carry an HK45 mag or two for reloads. All of that being said I carry my HK45 more.

I love mine.  It's one handgun I can shoot accurately.  Perfect recoil control mechanism.

Does anyone offer an "optics ready" format cut for the HK45 slide?

I'd be very curious to know what the weight of that pistol is, loaded.

Google says an unloaded one is 1.58 pounds. So I’m guessing 1.75 pounds loaded, roughly? I carry this or a G 43 nearly every day, it doesn’t feel overly heavy or obtrusive in anyway. And I have all the others for reference, G 19, G 48, 1911, etc.

My only compliant with the gun is the grip texture (easy to fix as shown by the OP) and the size of trigger guard shortens the WML rail to a point where it is difficult to find a light to fit on it.

Great carry gun.  It's basically a 21st century Colt Commander.

Oh, and I know the TLR7Sub will work.  That's what I carried on mine.

Nice. Holster options? I’m thinking about grabbing the same light, but I carry the gun regularly and would need a quality holster

Just here to say USPc.45 is better.

I have the DA/SA version.  The DA trigger pull is very bad (heavy).  Are people installing modified triggers or going with LEM instead?

The hammer spring is easy to change out. I installed a slightly lighter one from Wolff, made a big difference and hasn't had any issues or light primer strikes so far.
There are other springs like trigger return spring that I installed, huge pain in the ass and made little to no difference I could tell.

Nahh it isn’t though.

The USP series is better, across the board, than the P30/HK45/VP9. The only exception is the HK45C.

In comparison to the USPC you get:

-a functional (sort of) picatinny rail
-more ergonomic grip
-more carry friendly slide contour
-proper spurred hammer
-better mag release
-better safety lever
-ambidextrous slide release

The HK45C is the USP Compact 45 perfected, whereas the HK45 is a step back for the USP full size. The P30 is cool but the trigger blows so bad it’s also a downgrade. Plus they made the grip longer, so it’s no longer a USP Compact replacement at all.

I love my USP .45 so I wanted a USP45c.  They also had a Hk45c.  I went home with the 45c.

Sounds like im in the minority with the grip texture.  I really like it.

I drank the kool-aid on these pistols years ago and got one. I shot it quite a bit and carried it as well. But after comparing it performance wise against my other pistols I just really couldn’t warm up to it. It’s honestly the only pistol I was glad to get rid of because of how poorly the shooting experience was. I kick myself for not going with the full size HK45.

In my experience the S&W shield 45 was a MUCH more shootable pistol.

I'm in the same minority, but right after I got my hands on a HK45T, which I love the grip, I purchased the HK45C and HK USP-C as well.  I wanted to be able to carry concealed and couldn't decide.

Do you have a link to where you got your sping?  i've looked and while I've found ones for the HK45, they say they're not for the 45C version.

The Light LEM version is like a G19 that fires God's Round.  It's nearly perfect.

I'm a big 45C fan. Practically the same size as a G19 and very comfortable to carry. The only thing I've changed on mins was to have the front strap stipled to give it a little better grip. Otherwise it's been a rockstar in my carry rotation.

I love my German made 45CT…. I did convert it to LEM and wow it really makes it a better shooter for me especially being able to get a better purchase on the grip without the safety lever there

I just ordered an LEM kit to convert my 45C V3. Took me a while to warm up to the LEM kit I put in HK45 but now I’m sold.

I’m heading down the path to setting up a LEM HK45c, I’ve been moving away from decades of Glock use due to arthritis issues with their grip angle.  My P30 series guns don’t have this problem.

All my P30s are LEM v4.1ish, meaning light FPBS, “blue” hammer spring and heavy TRS.  HK Parts shows a heavy TRS for the HK45c but it’s out of stock and as usual for them they don’t disclose the HK part number, just their own. Does anyone know the UPC or HK part number for this heavy TRS?

I’m also looking for lighter hammer spring options.
