I was able to move a couple of guns I don't really use anymore and get enough cash for a new Para or Kimber. I've been doing my research and part of that would include asking in here for opinions. I have not narrowed down the model yet, but it will be a commander or compact size -single stack, single action (no LDA). Is there any reason to go with one over the other? I think both make SHARP looking pistols, that's for sure. The Kimber of course must have an internal extractor.

I'm leaning towards Kimber right now as their accuracy is scary.

Thoughts?

make sure the Kimber has the internal extractor...search a few post here and you'll find out why..
Para has a Power Extractor, from what i've seen, it's a two piece design and you have to get a replacement from their factory.

Best bang for the buck.
I have 3 right now, no problems out of any of them.

I think the Kimber gives you more for the money.  They have a level of quality that the I have not seen in a Para.

I have to say that I have a Para and I love it.  Mine is the P10.  I love having the ultra small pistol, 10 rounds of .45 and still the 1911.  Good shooter.

My only complaint with Para is that they have not made what I feel would be the perfect pistol yet.  The P14.45 Limited SA with a rail for a weapon light.

FWIW I have not touched a pistol with their LDA trigger on it yet...

Para...look for my range report later today regarding my Para P12.

The Kimbers that I have seen and fondled, both internal and external extractors, have not impressed me that much.

I'm looking to get a Rock Island 1911. I want to know how good is it and is it good for building on?
