I think I am in the minority here, but I actually prefer the Compact grip. My line of thinking here is that the carry size overhangs the bottom of my hand by a little more than the length difference between the two. Since the added length is really just unutilized for me, I prefer the added concealability however minor. The issue is a bit exacerbated for me, however, because of my fondness for Wilson grip modules and schmedium t-shirts. Like I said, I am an outlier though.

I guess I am in the minority as well.  I have two Compacts and have never felt like the grips were too small.  Perhaps that's because over the years I have CC-ed a G27, G43, and now a P365...so the standard Sig Compact grip seems roomy to me.

None. Used to use Compact grip modules, now all of my P320s have Carry grip modules. It’s an extra .2” of length difference, you can fix it with a minuscule adjustment on your holster. And now all my magazines use the same tube length for compatibility

I also prefer the compact grip for my carry gun. I filed a couple tiny spots off at the mag well which allows a Taran tactical +3 baseplate to fit with a 15 round magazine. The overall length of the grip at the front is the same as a full size but at the heel of the grip is about .25" less than a full size. The smaller flare on the mag well also helps it conceal.

Smaller profile where it matters and I still have 17+1.

I like the Compact size very much. It offers me a little bit more concealability than a 17rd grip module while being perfect for my hands. To me the X-Compact is the perfect EDC. Not shitting on anything else. Its just my personal opinion.

Mine came with two 15rd mags and I have not bought any more. They are my carry mags. Again just a little bit smaller and easier to hide. One is in the gun and the other is on my person. Every other mag is 17 or 21.

Personal preferences are perfectly understandable, I didn’t mean to denigrate the Compact grip modules in general. Just commenting that in comparison the Fullsize grips aren’t that much more difficult to conceal in practice

@AR-Davis

Sorry for not answering your email directly but if had this question asked either in PM or email a few times and since Safariland’s site can be a bit convoluted at times I figure it will just be easier to answer your question here so anyone else in the future will have a reference as well.

I bought my holster as a level II paddle and then added the quick locking system kit and the mid ride belt loop. This way I can move my holster around my gear and different belt set ups I have, (I have three, one set up for a shotgun, PCC and AR).

The part numbers for the multi cam covered holster, QLS and belt mount are listed below. I realize it shows a black holster but if you look at the options it is condura multi cam covered. Also note, it took almost 40 days for me to get my holster. These are covered by hand so it takes a lot longer.

I’m also using the nub mod on my ALS holsters. It’s a simple product but makes the feel of the Safariland level better and easier to tag.

Yep. I’ve dumped all my compact modules and mags. All of my P320s moving forward will have the full size 17 rnd grip. The difference is very small but gaining an extra two rounds per mag isn’t.

Side EDC changed. I finally replaced all the rear parts with coyote PVD parts. Slide cover, extractor pin and sear housing. It blends in better IMO.

Yeah. Interestingly enough they make a black oxide version of that tensioning pin now.

I ordered my PVD parts from Midwest gun works and Sig. Unfortunately MGW is out of stock on the PVD extractor pin right now.

I’ve reached a similar, but different conclusion. I’ve concluded that I have no need for a P320 at all. The 365 XL is unquestionably the best conceal carry pistol that I’ve ever had. The accuracy, capacity and ergonomics(after adding the Pro Ledge base plates and HandleItGrips) are perfect for me to carry AIWB, so I will be conceal carrying the XL in perpetuity.

When I open carry, I carry God’s caliber. I’ve been shooting handguns since I was a child, so I can shoot .45 just as easily as 9mm and a double stack .45 grip feels really good in my hand.

I don’t keep my finger on the pulse of the used prices, so I don’t know if this is a decent deal, but this came up on the Northwest Firearms classifieds this morning. He’s a solid member and it looks like he’d take a little less than he’s asking, but he may not want to ship. Northwest Firearms has pretty good classifieds.

I have Black and Tan already. They are sitting in the parts box. It sounds weird but the mix of colors I like. I put myM18 back to all black parts on the tan grip and slide. It just looks good to me with a 2 tone.

The P365 is a great pistol and while I love mine, the P320 is a combat pistol. For that reason I will never get rid of them. They shoot better than the P365 because of their size IMO. Fortunately we live in a place where we don’t have to only choose one.

I live in a place where I may have a confrontation with two and four legged creatures on any given day. A place that goes years between visits by any type of law enforcement. So, for me personally, 9mm is a town gun and, IMO, the XL is the quintessential town gun. But, I prefer .45 when I’m at home in the forest. I carry 46 rounds of .45 with the FNX and that makes me feel more warm and fuzzy inside than carrying 52 rounds of 9mm. If I can’t fight my way back to my rifle with 46 rounds, then it’s just my time to shuffle off this mortal coil.

I have just reached the conclusion that I personally have no use for a larger 9mm than the XL.

Thank you for the info it was very helpful ,I did finally get a holster  it was the 6360RDS-7502 SIG-P320 C  for TRL-1 X300U LIGHT  in the coyote brown mid ride
since I went with the Olight Valkyrie light I could not find any listings for that one ,however the Olight DOES work for this holster it slides right in and fits fine ,I also mounted the Halosun 507CX2 and did the wilson combat module ,I will try to post some pictures later if I can

Really happy with the Floodlight holster. It has proven itself to be plenty durable for concealed carry and comfortable. If you are looking for an IWB option for the P320 with a TLR 1 or X300, it might be worth checking out.

Right on.

Am I the only one here that outright prefers irons over a 507K on the 365? By every metric I can measure, I have better/more consistent results without the red dot.

Second, anyone got a holster recommendation for an Icarus hybrid pro with a TLR7A? Been waiting two months on a holster from Triad.

P365 update. I added a mag guts +2 kit to the 12 round mag for my standard P365. The kit goes together well and easily expands the capacity by 2 rounds for a total of 14 in the mag. This gives me 14+1 from the draw plus two back up 15 round mags for a total of 45 rounds in a tiny little package.

I ran 300 rounds through the 12 round mag with the mag guts kit installed with zero malfunctions. The ammo used was 147gr +P Federal HST. The kit adds a tiny amount of length to the floor plate but in my opinion the length added is almost unnoticeable. This is the pistol I’ve decided to send to WC next month to have the slide tweaked, GG trigger installed, WC tritium battle sights installed, (the factory X-rays are too thicc for my liking), and an Ion bond finish. I have an Integral Defense Group laser stippled module on the way to hold me over until WC decides to make a P365 module.

Ordered a subcompact grip frame and 6-round mags for my .45 ACP P320 from CDNN, and mounted my compact upper.

There's a small gap at the nose, where the slide meets the dust cover.  No biggie.

My pinky dangles with the 6-rounder.

9 and 10-rounders fit fine.

I like the rounded trigger guard and no rail.

With the subcompact mag in, it's about the same size as my 7-shot .357 snubnose.

It slips into the cheapie Sig paddle holster easy enough.  I haven't bought any specific holsters for it, but it seems to have the same footprint as a compact grip module.  I will do some experimenting and report back.

Best,
JBR

Quick update, added an IDG stippled module along with the Mag Guts +2 kit to the 12 round mag.

14+1 and the laser stippling feels great.

I ordered a pre-stippled module and then added the trigger finger index upgrade and the trigger guard index upgrade. Took about two weeks. The feel is great. I love that the thumb area is textured. I personally dig my thumb into the frame for leverage. The slick part on the standard module makes this a challenge. I also like the trigger finger index area, I have on more than one occasion rode my thumb up too high and touched the slide. With the stippling there it is easier to find the frame with my support hand thumb.

I think it's a .385 height, but don't quote me on that. There's a calculator you can use on Dawson Precision's site:

Dawson Precision Sight Calculator

I'm using a .400 front sight with the DPP adjustable rear.

Quick question for those in the know. I originally had a carry pro that I loved. It was relieved of it during a burglary. Now I'm looking to replace it. The thing I loved about the carry pro is that the sight stayed in the slide when the plate was removed.

I can't locate a carry pro at ALL, but I have found a coyote carry. Model is W320CA-9-BXR3- COY. The shop says it is cut for the RM1 pro/DPP or RMR with filler plate. The site is mounted to the cover plate.

Is this gonna be my best option other than trying to find a used gun? Or would I be better off buying a standard 320, selling off everything but the FCU and building it up the way I want? I like the x carry module, and straight trigger. The only thing I would possibly change right now is the transfer bar and I will be mounting a holosun 507C on top.

Any help you guys can give me.i really appreciate.  Current carry is the 365XL but I want to go back to the full size 320s for carry.

Best,

I did something very similar, but with rail & 9mm.  Wish to anything Sig hadn't discontinued the subcompact frame w/ rail. Great setup in my opinion...

Put together a basic carry model with the nitride FCU, Wilson grip, and slide with basic night sights.  Thought I would not like the flat trigger, but I do.

The slides you want are the RX and RXP models. These have the optic plate but retain the rear sight. These are my preference so far since I only have a Romeo at this time the factory slide cut works for me.

RX is cut for the Romeo 1
RXP is cut for the Romeo 1 Pro, Leupold DPP and some are drilled for the RMR holes.

Personally just picked up an RXP Xcompact to try the shorter slide out since my other builds are Carry Length slides. The new slide came with the RMR holes drilled and tapped

Nice thread. Since I didn't see many P365X Romeo like mine, I am posting it.
Added gray frame, safety, True (brand) threaded barrel AND a Griffin micro comp; to top it off, TLR-6 light und laser (made to match the P365)

Daily carry

I’m going to remove my Vuurwapen mag release this weekend. It’s too long. I’ve only had it installed for about a week now, more than once though it has activated on its own. My mag stayed in the gun but was not secured. If I drew to fire I’d have a single round and my mag would drop. I tested it with my various methods of carry and it seems to be a problem when I carry AIWB and IWB getting in and out of vehicles. I’ve tried various holsters to see if it is holster issue but it doesn’t seem to be.

I also switched to an NDZ P365 barrel. It is a 416R DLC finished barrel with a match crown. Groups are a little tighter but not mind blowing, not bad either. The upside I guess is it is made in the USA from US sourced 416R SS. I do like that it doesn’t have all kinds of excessive machining and designs all over it. Not sure why almost every P365 barrel looks like it was made by Strike Industries. My only gripe is the huge NDZ logo. A smaller logo would give it a cleaner look. Still though, the NDZ barrel is not a bad option if you are looking for a little tighter performance without looking ridiculous in the process.

I do wish L2D Combat made barrels for the P365. My L2D Combat barrels in my P320s are outstanding.

Damn, thats a bummer. I read a lot of your stuff in the GD thread about 365 vs 43, and got some good info. Maybe its a sign since I cant even seem to get the stock mag release off anyways

It’s still worth a look imo. It may work for you. Removing the mag catch is clunky the first time or two but after that you’ll get it, no problem.

Best way to remove a Sig P320 or P365 magazine release button

I just use a tiny little punch I have and start pushing in and leveraging up like you are trying to pick something up using a lever. On occasion I’ve recruited the wife to use some needle nose pliers to pull the clip once I get it slightly lifted from the catch.

GD is interesting. I catch a lot of hell in GD but a lot of people get emotionally invested in their carry choice and are stone cold against the thought of changing a platform. I came from carrying tiny j frames with 5 shots and even though I was fast with a wheel gun reload, (probably rusty AF now), by any semi auto standards, a fast revolver reload is still a slow semi-auto reload. So you’ve got a slow reload and a low capacity meaning you have to do those slow reloads more often. The only advantage j frame revolvers had was size and reliability, but now days both of those advantages are gone. That is why I say revolvers are obsolescent.

I’ve tried a number of smaller .380s and 9mm’s, including the M&P Shield, Glock 42 and 43. They are great guns but currently the P365 is the king of the micro compact world. While I do love Sigs, I’m not a brand snob. If something comes out that is smaller than the P365 but offers similar performance and is still ultra reliable, I am willing to try it out. A lot of people refuse to do that and in the process limit themselves out of stubbornness or peer pressure. I don’t care though, I want every single advantage I can leverage when carrying.

Can you please post a link to your GD thread? I just recently made the switch from the G43/G43X to the P365X and I'm interested in reading that thread and hearing your experience.
