I'm going to get one of these.
I have several P226 9mm mags, and either of these will take P226 9mm mags.
Is one better than the other?
Any input is appreciated.
I have a P226 in 9mm
P220 in 45acp
Son has P228 in 9mm
TIA

unless you need to conceal it, the 229 might be a hair better, it is heavier, so there is less felt recoil.

In 9mm, I prefer the handling qualities of the 228 over the 229, as I do not see the need for the extra weight and bulk with the shorter barrel and lighter recoil of the nine. JMO

Also, I thought the 226 mags would not fit the 229's, even in 9mm (?)

The link above (FAQ?) said that the 229, uses the same magazines as the 228. They're interchangeable. Hence, a 226 mag would fit either.
Thanks guys. I'm on the prowl for a 228 now.

The P229 slide is milled from stainless steel and then blackened.

The P228 slide is stamped sheet metal, the traditional SIG way of making pistol slides starting with the P220.

Other than that, the weapons are identicle.

I prefer the rust resistance of the black stainles on the P229, but I like the weight of the P228.

You won't go wrong with either one......so I know this really didn't help you make your choice....sorry.

Thanks guys.
I ordered a NIB P228 this morning.
I'll save it for my son's BD in early October.
Give it to him for his 21st BD, and snag his P228 in exchange. To me, it's a win, win situation :)
