Are there any good hi cap .40 or .45 1911s out there? I was considering getting a Para Ordnance P14 or P16 but extensive research has shown that these guns are not reliable enough for personal defense (too many issues/malfuntions). I am a 1911 guy but also like high capacity(you can never have too much ammo on tap). Considered an STI but seems they are tight tolerance and suited more toward competition than carry. Also considered a Kimber Pro BP ten 2 but don't see many around anymore (discontinued?)Thanks in advance

They have Pistols for Carry.  Carry gun does not need to be sloppy for 100% function.

STI is about the only hi-cap 1911 I would consider.  The Wilson Combat KZ series is pretty good as well.

I have not had a chance to fully examine and evaluate one yet, but based on inital experiences I like the Smith and Wesson M&P 45.

Find a local dealer that stocks STI, and take a long hard look at the STI Eagle. With Heinie sights and a bushing barrel, should make a fine pistol for carry.

STI or SVI.  SVI typically costs more, and you may have to order direct and then wait a long time.  I've owned both and they were great guns.  IMHO the Para's are not in the same league.

Neither is the STI or SVI---2011 is not a 1911

No, but they are functionally the same.  The MP45 is not.  What is your point?
