I'm looking to get a Colt and will either go with a 1991 80 series with the NRM or a Colt XSE. I'm not looking for advice on other models, so please don't suggest buying a SA Loaded or anything else. I've seen alot of positive comments on the NRM 80 pistols that Colt is producing but not alot of feeback on the XSE models.

So how do you all feel about the XSE models? Worth $120-$150 more than a NRM 80 series pistol?

I have a stainless XSE Gov 5 inch. I love mine and have been CCW the last month with it. Some people do not like the forward cocking ser, I don't mind them. All the way around the XSE is a step up, you get Novak type sights, a better fit, undercut under the trigger for a higher hand hold.

The only thing I did not like was the downswept grip safety. So I bought the S&A jig and a grip safety and fitted one I liked.

A guy from Colt that is on 1911forum.com once said the XSE and Gold Cup get the same barrel and fit. Looking at mine I believe him.

I am hoping to pick up a XSE lightweight Command next.

Take care.

I have the Combat Commander XSE and really like it. Shoots nicely, and reliably. I don't like the downswept beavertail either, so I had an Ed Brown put on. I also like the idea of putting Americans to work, and the history behind the gun.

I have a blued XSE that is a work of art. The trigger is crisp and consistent, the bluing is gorgeous, the grips contrast perfectly, the barrel locks up tight, and the action is very smooth. Definitely the nicest 1911 I've owned so far.

Here's my first 1911

I think it is a real nice package for CCW

Another positive vote for the XSE pistols. Stainless Commander and blued Government model. Good fit and finish, nice balance, reliable and combat accurate. Get one (or two)!
