So I was loitering around my local shop today and a fella comes in to pick up his brand new Sig 226 elite 9mm.
While waiting for this pistol he eyes a new 8" .500 s&w mag. His sig was $970 out the door, this .500 was $650 OTD.
This fella all but pisses rainbows and offers the shop owner a straight trade. The owner at first declines telling the man
"dude your GIVING me like $300 no way" The shop owner tells the man, sell your gun and i'll hold this revolver for you.
The man is adamant about getting the revolver now. So the owner finally makes the deal.
After the fella leaves I ask the owner to take a look at the Sig.

OMG.... At first I thought blah another thick ass handled gun just like my damn glock with a bunch more buttons and levers, i'll pass.
But then I started manipulating the controls... The slide release so... beautifully placed! The decocker was so smooth and well
positioned...  The shop owner tells me I can have it for what he had the revolver priced at. $650 OTD...

I currently am broke as shit and would have to sell my 4th gen G17 to make the purchase....

WTF should I do? I enjoy my glock as its grip is slightly smaller. but i have to reposition the gun in my hand to manipulate the slide
release. I do not have to do this with the Sig though... How is it's overall reliability? I know my glock can go in the mud and sand and water.
How does the Sig hold up? How complex is the take down? A lot of newbie questions I know, but  don't know squat about Sigs... Help me
please....

I'm still kicking myself for not picking up a P226 Elite .40  (90% cond) that was consigned to a shop in NW Austin last year...They wanted $475, yes $475.......ya $475......Don't be me, just buy it.

P226 > G17

An Elite even more so...

I would expect to pay $~650 for a used P226 in .40SW in decent condiditon with mags.  So $650 for an Elite that never left the fun store is a steal

I would inquire as to if you would be considered the first owner or not.  If you need warranty service you need to be the original owner.

With the ways things are going our money is worth less and less each day.  I wouldn't stress, just pay off the 1k as soon as you can.

Still in clear, got gun cleaned and put up before she got home. Thinking ahead I gave them my brothers address instead of my own. So... to sell first born to pay off loan quickly or not....

Sale the Glock.  You can also pick another up cheaper then the SIG.  I would love to find a good deal on a 226 (if I ever stay home long enough).  Guns work extremly well enough in the box.

Went to pay $500 on that loan I took out this morning...
The lady told me I had a balance of .01
I disputed that and she informed me that a payment was made yesterday.
I paid the penny and went home confused...
I had been at my buddies house all day monday and just headed home this morning.
When I walked in my wife handed me an envelope... and kissed me goodbye as she left for work. It was the recepit for the loan payment... and a note...
"since we are getting what we want for x-mas with out discussing it with each other, don't touch the walls in the bedroom, the paint is still a little wet."
her favorite color is pink....  so you can guess what color my bedroom is...

Well played, Mrs. Solodevice!  Well played indeed.

It's a small price to pay though, isn't it?

The $0.01 was to try and keep your loan open––good call on closing it and paying it off!

You better buy her a little something special for Christmas too. I am thinking a P238

If she is that much into Pink that she painted the walls pink in the bedroom, you may stand to win again and reap the benefits there as she loves the new color.

And best of all, you didn't have to help with the painting!

Honestly dude, you got off easy. That is pretty damn classic. My wife would've grabbed my AR (rra, magpul goodies, acog, etc.) and sold it for what the loan was worth to pay it off!

Oh yeah, congrats on the sweet, new gun!
