When I saw this, my first thought was "That thing is fuck-ugly and there is no way anyone would use that outside of competition."

Read the G&A article, took a closer look. The concept is sound; same size as a Glock 34 with a brake slapped on to reduce muzzle flip. But some of the details are stupid as hell. I can't see anyone managing to rack the slide on something other than, say, their clothing with top slide serrations. Could certainly do so off of the RMR, but I'd be worried about breaking it off the slide. Minor concern in a life/death situation, but something to think about. Anyway.

This would be an optimal setup for someone whose only weapon is their sidearm, say law enforcement.(Don't see any department allowing it, unless they're SWAT) My only concern would be trigger/action work, and the KKM barrel; that seems to be where reliability problems could be introduced, and I'm not a fan of trigger work on guns that I carry. I don't see much need for a match-grade barrel, either; the stock ones hold 2-3 inches for me at 25 yards. Has anyone attached a muzzle brake to a factory threaded barrel? That would seem to be the optimal setup, at least for me.

I picture a 17 frame with a 19 or 26 slide with a muzzle brake and an rds.

Aftee reading about this new concept I decided to built one to use it as a range toy, but let me tell you I'm so impress about how flat it shoots, acquiring the rmr dot it's so easy, it quickly became one of my favorite so decided to carry and order an IWB JM custom that it will take some time to get to me, any of you guys carrying this bad boy I'm open to other suggestions on holsters

The JM Custom Kydex rig is what I'm running as well. I know others have taken a liking to the VG3 from RCS, but I had my JM before the VG3 was released to the public, so I've been sticking with it.

I will like to try the VG3 concept, but i the same time i need  a holster that will allow me to do live fire.  I was looking at the EIDOLON but don't know if it fits.

Not Rowland... Roland.

It's a G19 with a RDS, light, and KKM barrel and comp used by some super legit gunfighter types.

Rowland...Roland ok now I'm up to speed, I confused myself "sometimes that don't take much"

Since the comp works more efficiently with more velocity and pressure,  how would a RS in .40S&W perform? Anyone tried it? If I wasn't strapped for cash, I'd get a LE trade in and do one myself

I'm in the same boat.  Probably pick up the barrel and comp in a month or so, and either an mos or a atom slide.

ETA:

I'm actually trying to decide between a Roland special, or a G17 with a 6-Sec mount and RDS.  Haven't decided which.

It won't. The KKM comp uses a proprietary thread pitch.

Didn't know there was a thread for this.

KE Arms Roland Special

Pistol complete.  Needs a Talon grip and I may switch to a magwell.  Going to swap out to a lighter recoil spring that is more compatible with my reloads.  Will be visiting We Plead the 2nd for a holster.

With enormous KE magwell.

Carver makes a comp that's really similar to the KKM comp that works on the standard 1/2x28 thread pitch S3F uses.

They do, but it requires red loctite to keep it indexed properly.

The comp is lunacy on a 9mm gun, even the NATO stuff doesn't generate enough gas to need any sort of comp. Instead you have introduced ports and venting, and all the associated negative effects, for a pistol that is presumably used in tight quarters by "face shooters".

Then, you've made the intentional choice to run a 19, instead of a 17, despite the fact that anyone with more than 5 minutes on a handgun shoots a 17 better, often 15-20% better.

You've added a magwell, which is borderline retarded on a concealment piece, so you're just adding further mechanical complexity. Magwells on 19s don't often do that well with large/gloved hands either.

Now, we've also added stippling. There are very, very few people who can stipple Glocks without reducing the integrity of the frame/grip. Not a good idea usually on a working gun.

And of course, we declare that this is a "special" pistol, for "special" people, as if the concept and application can't then be critiqued.

Does it count as an RS if you use a G19 MOS or does it have to be a standard G19 milled by ATEi?

I think 1moa will be to small and hard to pick up fast, I've got a 3moa & 8moa I shoot the 8 better/faster just my 2 cents.

Was wanting to put an RMR on my G19.  Saw the Roland Special information and decide to go that way.

So I created my Roland Special, Texas/Suarez Rendition.

Took it to the range and was pleased with the performance.

If I did my my part, at 30 feet I was able to keep 5-10 shots within 2 inches

I decided I need more range time

Glock 19 Gen 4
OEM internals, polish job on trigger bar (from G17 Gen 4), connector ("."), firing pin safety.
KKM Precision -Roland Special- Glock Match Drop in Barrel with Compensator
Suarez V3 SI-419 RMR slide, Aquaterra finish
Trijicon Tritium front and rear suppressor sights
"Texas" slide cover plate
Trijicon RM02 RMR
Surefire X300 Ultra-B

The holster is from T.REX ARMS.  The Ragnarok style with bladetech paddle

Here are some pics:

And DARC isn't painted black and doesn't have the red stripe on the wall. The walls at DARC are coated in Skittles.
