I am shocked. |
there has been atleast 2 attempts at a tack for walther owners none have stuck
Oh I'm used to that, my CCW is a Makarov . Nice piece, BTW |
Picked up one of the titanium and black 9mm models for my wife about a year ago. Nice guns but I think I'll stick with my 1911 for my CCW choice.

I've got one , that's it with the 34 round mag sticking out. http://www.ammotracker.com/hosted/stevan/IMG_1337b.jpg Here it is with my buddy's P22 |
We are just a quiet bunch. These rowdy kids with their .22 pop guns have invaded our forum. |
I can't complain too much about the P22 owners.... I've got one of those in the house too. |
Got one. My favorite also, BTW. |
First gun I ever bought.....and still one of my favorites. Over 10,000 rounds and still going strong.
I just bought one, in fact I am leaving work in an hour to get it on my permit, and pick it up. In .40 S&W with the OD frame....liked it in .40 since my USP is in .40.....
Can't wait to try it! |
does anyone have one of the Quick Action models??? It is supposed to have a single action trigger and a decocker.
How do these compare to a standard P99??? Thanks |
The p99 can be carried decocked and loaded so the first shot is a very long pull about 2 inches at a heavy 7.5 to 8lbs after that the pull is .5 inch at around 4-5.5 lbs the decock button on the QA is smaller by around half other than that they are the visually the same I had always heard the QA has a DOA trigger similair in feel to a glock |
CDNN advertises a:
1) Quick action model (QA) 2) DAO model 3) a regular P99 I am confused. If the quick action model has a trigger similar to the feel of a glock (which has a DAO trigger), what does the P99 DAO model's trigger feel like |
Actually that's not right. The Glock is a single action only with a 2 stage trigger. Total pull is about 5lbs. The QA is sort of a 1 1/3 action trigger with a single stage pull of about 9 lbs. The The DAO has a pull around 12 lbs with a single stage pull comparble to a revolver. The AS trigger is a DA/SA and has about a 6lb single and a 12 lb double action pull. The single action pull is staged and the DA pull is singlew pull.

The 34 round mag is more then likely a modified Berretta magizine. I did the same with some 15 rounders so they would work in my P99.

Which Bond film is 007 using a P99 in? Iwas watching the newer ones a few weeks ago and Brosnan was still using a PPK, which is a pistol I can't stand BTW. Also comparing a P99 is like comaring a 60's Vette to a modern on. They both do the same job but a modern one is more relaible and easier to live with. As far as comparing a Glock to a P99, well at least that's fair. The Glock is a little more practical, having a lower bore axis, and being slightly smaller, put the P99 is FAR superior in ergonomics. All my friends crry Gocks, my brother both love Glocks. My P99 may be a blck sheep but I still like it way better. |
I saw those mags at sportsmansguide, is it any good? |
It's a fun range mag. The bullet sits a little low in the pistol so it feeds ball ammo no problem but hollow points just plow into the feed rail. Also, with that much travel in the mag, loading a patrially loaded mag aggressivley can cause the bullet to stand upright, but I experianced that with my 14 round bestmag too, though not quite to the same degree. It's definatley fun to take to the range...

Owner of both an OD .40 and Black 9mm checking in!
OD .40 in a CTAC is my daily carry. |
You cut a new notch for the mag catch. If my 34 rounder is a Baretta mag the lips place the bullet low on the feed rail so it feeds ball ammo ok, but hollow points won't cycke
I have three P99's, one black, one military, and one QPQ. All are 9mm. Planning on a P99C in the future.

I devirginized myself today out on the range with my new (and first gun purchased ever) Walther P99 QA .40
Now, I haven't shot a handgun since I was 14ish @ my Uncle's cabin so this was a new experience, but it was very pleasing. Gotta say I love this pistol! Here Also note these pictures were right when I got it and I hadn't cleaned it. I went to the range as I said today and cleaned it quite thoroughly when I got home. It looks MUCH better cleaned up lol. There are some visible smudges and such in the pics. http://www.maximumoc.com/img/p99qa/gun_carry_tu_800.jpg http://www.maximumoc.com/img/p99qa/gun3_800.jpg http://www.maximumoc.com/img/p99qa/gun2_800.jpg http://www.maximumoc.com/img/p99qa/mags_and_gun_800.jpg |

sysfailur,
Those are some very nice pictures you took. Very professional looking. Welcome to the site! |

Here's my P99AS I picked up a couple months ago.

Thx, a friend on another site pointed me to ar15.com. Seems like an awesome community. EDIT: Nice AS btw bluebomber. I do like the new looks and I may get a 9mm P99QAC possibly later in the new look. I deff wanna hold one though first and make sure it's not too small heh. |

i didnt realize the p 99 s slide is made by smith and wesson?i know they make the slide for their version but on the right side and foreward you can clearly see smith and wesson on the picture posted by justinok34.
IIRC, Smith & Wesson either bought or merged with Walther. I think it was around the year 2000 or 2001, anyone know?
On the OD/black Walther on my first post, the front/right of the slide reads "WALTHER USA LLC SPRINGFIELD, MA" I bought that one back in 2002. |
I *think* S&W only imports them. Anyways I have a P99 made in 2000 that is 100% walther
Yeah it seems you can get some that are purely made in Germany, then there are some that are made in the US and Germany but both Walther. And the third is Walther Germany for the frame, SW for the slide. *Shrug*
I had heard that the AS version of the P99 that was made by SW had some problems, but I'm certainly not having any probs with my QA SW slide. I can tell ya that :) |
P99 was one of the first guns i considered buying. the rental i was shooting at my local range had a problem with stovepiping but other than that i really like the gun. i was originally choosing between the P99, USP, 226 and a Glock all in .40 The USP won out, and i have recently been thinking about getting a 226 in 9mm but things aren't looking good there. I'm very tempted to give this another try. .40 seems to be the more popular round, any particular reason you guys aren't getting this in 9mm?
I may be trading my CZ-75 Compact in .40 for one at the Tanner Show tomorrow.
We'll see! |
I've never had a jam in either of my Walthers, and I've put through hundreds of rounds in both. The Walther at your range has probably been abused to all hell. As for the choice between .40 and 9mm, this thread appears to be close half and half. Plenty of folks here have it in 9mm. I have it in both. But if I were to guess why its popular in the "Foh-tee" model, it's because we're all professional enough! |
I got mine used for $375. The price was good enough I didn't care if it was a 9mm or a .40.
Not really sure why I picked .40S&W. As this was my first gun, I did some reading and it seemed for personal defense it was better. That was partially my reason. I also read it was a fairly new caliber, and I was willing to give it a try. ;)
Goin to the range tomorrow to fire off another 200 rounds or so. Wooohoo! |
Mine is an original interarms import in 9mm. I picked it up back when they first entered the country, and I still love it.
btw here is a link to a FAQ page about who made what and when. It is a good P99 thread. www.praxagora.com/lunde/WaltherP99FAQ/index.html |

Awesome link, thanks! |
