PPQ is what the Glock G4 should have been.

It's a great pistol.

If I could find an original with the paddle release I'd get one, as then I would have
mag commonality with my P99 AS.

I think they took a step back by changing the mag release IMO.

The M1 has been discontinued, I believe.

That is what I thought, until I held the M2.  They did it right, mag release can be pressed without breaking grip, or switched to trigger finger side and pressed without breaking grip.

After handling one, I agree it works fine, just prefer the paddle. But that's me.

Congrats on your purchase.

Being a lefty, I really want to get one, because I missed out on a couple of the early PPQs available locally at reasonable prices.

I'll have to try one again, but just dry-firing one in a store a while back I actually found the trigger and reset TOO light and short to feel comfortable with it as a defensive gun.  I've heard multiple reports of them doubling which I assume is simply an unintentional bump-fire due to the trigger characteristics.  It seems like somewhere between the PPQ and the Glock would be just right.  Actually, I think that's what the PPS is.

The M1 is still available in Europe to fulfill existing contracts for that model. The M2 was created because thats what Walther thinks Americans want.

And I will consider buying one, now that it has a proper mag release

The only thing I didn't like about the PPQ was the long slide catch.  I don't want to have to adjust my grip just to avoid it.  Other than that, it rocks.

Well maybe they'll make a PPS without that idiotic backstrap safety, with normal magazines floorplates and a nicely bobbed butt.

I really need to actually shoot one of these. I held one once at a gunshow a while back and though it felt kinda cheap. It was comfortable in the hand, but just felt cheap. Only way I can describe it. I guess with a mag inserted it would probably feel tougher, but I remember not being very impressed. I'm a huge HK guy to. I carry a USPc9 on duty and about 50% of the time for ccw off duty(other gun is a Glock FYI)

I've got a "First Edition" PPQ that is a fine pistol indeed, but I am appalled that Walther is producing new designs, each with apparently different magazines from the last.  This seems very short-sighted indeed, especially if they are trying to enlarge their American market, since gun control here seems to so often hinge on magazines, their properties and their availability.

I'd like to examine the new Walther "Nirvana" model, but with a P99 and a PPQ, I don't want to have to go to yet another magazine design.

Ah yes.  The time-honored Browning methodology.
