I just got my first 1911. My dad gave me his Series 80 Combat Commander. It's a great gun, but I hate the factory sights. The paint on the front dot actually fell out when I was shooting it! No joke! I want to get a set of night sights for it but I don't want to spend a lot of money getting the front sight dovetailed. Who makes night sights that will fit the stock settings for my Colt? Also, I want to get the front strap checkered with 25 lpi, who does a good job at a decent price that I can mail my 1911 out to? Thanks.

Novaks.

Yes, they are expensive. Yes, they require the dovetail. Yes, they are worth it.
