Howdy all,

Love my new XD9, got the plain service, now I want an upgrade in capability.

Wondering what night sights are nice on a XD, looking at the meprolight so far.  Who can install these, I have no ability, don't want to really trust someone from the yellow pages, any place I can order the sights, mail the slide of to and get the package back?

Thanks all!

i mailed a glock slide to www.glockmeister.com and they refinished it and put metro's on.   there's another great gunsmith just up the street http://www.caswells.com/.  caswells tapped and epoxied trijicon ghost ring sights on my 870, did a great job.  unfortunately i don't know if caswells accepts business via mail and i'm not sure if glockmeister does work on xd's.  however, i've done business with both and they do great work.

ALSO: some of my friends have gone with ameriglo tritium / fiber optic sights, GREAT sights!  the fiber optic makes them glow in daylight like a fiber optic illuminated acog.

hope that helps

I went with TruGlo TFO Tritium/Fiber in GREEN for my XDm 9... my not so young eyes love them.

Who'd you have install them??

I'd really look into it, but competent gunsmiths with knowledge of anything around here are slim to none

xd sights are a b1tch!
keep it professional-don't buy tools cause you'll fvck up your slide and break the sights!
Springer, Powder River are the two i'm coming up with right now but you can check xdtalk for more.

I sent my XD .45 back to Springfield to have trijicon night sights installed. I also had the custom carry package done as well.

I use the XS 24/7 tritium sights on all my serious pistols.
I prefer the small dot front sight.

I even shoot USPSA with these sights.

Buy a set and take your slide to the gunsmith for professional installation.

The stock XD sights are a royal bitch to remove, I could not get the rear sight out
no matter how hard I tried. You have to have a work bench vise combo that absolutely
does not move.

Our local 'smith put them in for $25. Money well spent.

+1 on this.  I called my usual gun shop and they said they won't even put the sights on their own gun.  All xd's go to PA up the road and they gave me the guy's number, he wanted $50.    I think I'll end up sending my slide to one of the listed companies above.

If you want sites put on a XD go HERE hands down, best place i have heard of yet!!!

click on the gunsmithing section

You can buy the sites from them, send in the slide, and they will install and send back, you pay one time for it all. (plus cheap USPS shipping to get it there)

I sent my XD45c to SA for the Carry Job. I picked the Heine Straight 8 night sights included with the package.

My wife's 9sc got the XD Big Dot installed by a LGS here for $35.00. I bought the sights on Midway when they were having a sale. `

Stick with Trijicon...

I've used Trijicons on all of my pistols (several SIG's and an XD45 Tactical...)...except when I got my XD45c, I decided to try a set of XS Big Dots.

BIG mistake...accuracy suffered quite noticeably and POI shifted downward about 8" at 25 yards compared to the stock sights...

XS sights are coming off and a set of tried & true Trijicons are going on.
