Used to have some nice 1911s both thinking of having one in the stable again. Something simple. Thinking of one of a few. What do you guys think I should pic? It'll be for range use as I use another pistol for HD and classes.
Baer UTC with no fcs and naked slide and plain black rear sight with Baer Coat.
Brown SF same way but with 10-8 rear
Brown Executive Elite same with 10-8
Just get a Colt or Springer because who cares its a range toy
Help me out

What's your upper limit? From some of the choices you listed, sounds like you are considering pistols in the $2500-2750 range.

Also, since you're looking for a range gun - any reason not to go with adjustable rear sights?

I like fixed sights. I'm not one to go adjusting sights. I'm a set it and forget it type. I can get those guns between $2200-2500 delivered. I could get the Baer much cheaper if I stayed with blued. Like $1900. I'd say $2500 is the most I would go. The UtC has a nice price and I like the Baer style.

To me it seems the Baer is the best value for dollar

For that much, you could get an Ed Brown?  Or what about a Wilson Combat?  While we're on the topic of quality and value, what's the consensus regarding Kimber vs Sig?

I'd recommend going with a Baer. I've shot a lot of 1911s, and the Baers are definitely a cut above most. I can't speak to Brown, but I'd recommend going with something with lots of hand attention, if your budget is up around the 2K limit. You know you want it, might as well go all out. I'm sure Browns are nice, but I think that might be getting to the point of diminishing returns on the cost/quality scale.
