Hey guys, I like the board! Anyway I have a couple questions. I bought a refubished USP40 a couple months ago off Gunbroker.com for $499 and it has been the BEST pistol I have shot to date. My question is, are LEM USP's marked with LEM? I believe mine is a refurbished ex-LE pistol because of the lack of saftey but it isnt marked. My second question is can I convert it to have saftey? I thought that LEM's were DAO but my is SA/DA. I have shown this pistol to a few other guys and they were as puzzled as I am but they werent all to familiar with HK's (glock owners hock.gif). Heres a couple pics of my pistol for refrence and Im sorry if I come off as a total noob, lol. O Yeah, also has anyone seen any USP Mark's for sale recently? I have been looking for some time and even saw someone at my local range firing one off but he wouldnt let me squeeze off a round or clip for that matter http://www.texas4x4.org/gallery/albums/album153/110_1095_img.sized.jpg

Is that not a safety on the left side? Is it just a decocker? They have a bunch of variants for their USPs but I don't think any are LEO only. You might just have a variant that a lefty wanted without a safety. As far as I know the only thing stamped LEO are the mags.

Sounds like you might have a Variant 4 configuration. If you simply want to add the safety you could have it converted to Variant 2. The following link should help clear up what you have but, no, your gun has nothing to do with whether or not it was used for LE.

Well the shop I bought it from said it was a ex-LE pistol. He said he bought a case of them from the police department and sent them out to H&K to be refurbished. I personally dont know of any police departments here in the states that issue H&K's but that is what he said. Thanks for the link, it clears alot of it up for me! And yes that is only a decocker.

Yes, there's several depts who issue USPs. I once saw a list of states & what was issued to their Hwy Patrol. Too many city depts to list all of them I guess.

Any varient can be changed to another by a H&K armorer.

The Maine State Police carry USP .45s.  And they are sweet.

You got this from Norcross right?  I bought one as well.  It is a variant 4 (or 3 depending on the side of the decock)

It has no safety.  Additionally that is a nickel-plated finish, not stainless, which is why they call it two toned.  Sound about right?

I had to send mine back.  It had a fracture in the slide at the rear and the finish was coming off.  I was pretty unhappy after I discovered that.  However, the owner of "Hit and Run," Phil, took good care of me and sent me back a full refund.

I'm now going to get a Brand New Usp .40 compact stainless.  I will probably never buy used again. This just left a sour taste in my mouth
