Every 1911 pictured had an INTERNAL extractor.

Why, are they bad, other than the Kimber?

Most of the people I have spoke with (dealers included) favor the IE on the 1911. I think most work well and in a lot of cases people just like the look of the IE.

At first I thought you were talking about the Equipment Exchange!

I prefer the internal extractor because it seems to work just fine for me and because it's a common part that I can keep a spare and have it work on all of my 1911s (except for that Series 80, but we won't talk about that, will we?).
