I know it sounds strange, but who loads some .40 S&W level or less 10mm... I have an incoming pistol that is somewhat of a collector piece that I do want to put a few rounds thru every once in a while.

Im getting into the reloading thing but do not trust myself enough to load for this gun..

i use Blazers--less kick than the corbons and win that i usually run

Nah... Need some really light ones..  This gun is a safe queen, and has only been test fired at the factory back in 1984.. I really dont want to break anything..I have a Witness that I shoot the hotter stuff in... Blazers are fun and cheap... I bought some 10mm reloads from OMC... They are a good time as well..

In before some bozo tells you to just shoot .40's in it

I practice with 180 gr UMC. These seem fairly light, low cost and accurate in my G29.
For Full Loads try Double Tap or Corbon.

I need my fingers!  My incoming Bren Ten is near the top of my  " DO NOT BLOW UP" list.

Are Bren Ten's known for blowing up with full 10mm loads?
Link Posted: 2/10/2006 8:09:55 AM EDT
[#7]
They had some functional problems in the early production.." Blowing up" maybe is a wrong choice of words on my part.. "Slide Failure" is probably better.

All I am looking for is some .40 slow and weak  loads to shoot this every once in a while. Since there are virtually no replacement parts around I need to be careful what I put thru it.

Try some .40 in it!

(I was just kidding! Don't use .40 in it!)

PMC are the lightest factory loads. Why not install a buffer and shoot 175 Winchest silvertip, it wont hurt you weapon..

Im assuming you have a Colt Delta 1911 on the way, if you do a wilson shok buffer will do the trick

No Delta... This is a Bren Ten... Id be really surprised if there was one for it.

Light 10mm loads? I didn't even know those existed!

Mike Foushee (sp?) at Lancer Ammo makes a 10mm load that is very light.  The 180 grainers stumbled out of the ejection port on my Glock 20.  They never jammed, they just didn't cycle the slide with the authority of the heavier loads.

Thanks.. Thats what I was looking for...Id just like to put a magazine thru this gun now and again.. I have a 10mm Witness that I like to shoot the full power stuff thru.

Not the cheapest, but try Fed. Hydrashocks.  They are loaded almost identically loaded in both the 10mm & .40.

I shot a few across my chrono a couple of years ago.

10mm Glock 29
Fed 180 gr. HS = 962 fps.

.40 Glock 23
Fed 180 gr. JHP = 921 fps.

in comparison, the 175 gr. Win Silvertip 10mms did 1129 out of the G29, but even these are considered on the low- to mid-range for 10mm.  I haven't taken the time to chrono a "real" 10mm load.

Oh yeah, I've shot lots of .40s through Glock & Colt 10mms.

Originally, Norma loaded their 200gr bullet to 1200fps and the 170gr bullet to 1400fps.
AFAIK they did come very close to that in "real life" too from a 5" barrel.
By comparison, much of modern "10mm" ammo seems to be .40 Short & Weak in a larger case

In terms of handloads, my 180gr load chronos @1234 fps and 200gr load @1150 fps (S&W 1026, 5" barrel).

Thanks.. He is sending me 20rds of his 946 fps to try.... If these work Ill shoot them in my Bren Ten, and the hotter stuff in my Witness

Not to hijack the thread, but what are some good, hot-ass commercial loads for the 10mm?  I've actually noticed that my G20 has less felt recoil than a s&w .40, and it's actually kind of annoying.  I wanted a manly pistol, dammit.

Also, would I be out of my goddamn mind to handload 200gr to approximately 1800fps?

I was expecting a handful the first time I shot my Glock 29.  It was actually quite plesant.

I think Double Tap and Georgia Arms both have some loads that run about 980fps.  If you order enough Double Tap will probably load whatever you want.

Compact Witness in 10mm with full power loads is a hell of a good time... I have a full size 10mm also but the compact is a fun blaster. Numb hand after about 50 rds.
