Picked this up in a trade earlier this week.  Has 500 rounds through it for now.  I replaced the 3 hole trigger with a Brown solid long trigger, 10-8 rear sight with .156 notch, Brown Maxi-well snake skin, and a set of VZ Recon grips in coyote.  Gonna try and put some rounds through her this week.

That is one beautiful pistol.

Something I must remark on...I shopped around for sights for a long time before settling on the "Ledge" style sights that you can rack a slide with.  That was probably 3 months ago.  Now I'm seeing them everywhere.  In many different magazine ads, there are many people making similar patterns, lots of companies building guns with them.  Has there been a major trend towards these sights lately?

Beautiful. I love 1911s with clean, empty slides. Well done, OP.

I have been seeing them a lot here lately and decided to give it a try.  I have never like a 3 dot set up, because you are alinging the dots vertically and your target is horizontal.  I do like the straight eight style because you are aligning the sights horizontal to the target which seems faster.  I went with the tritium front and blank rear.  Its fast and I think I'm going to stick with this on all my guns.

I'm HDLS, so I don't really need tritium, but I prefer a gold bead.  Very bright, and never fades.  Just something to consider.

I'm eventually going to replace it with a gold bead, but my price on a tritium front sight is 39 and a gold bead is 70.  I'm might consider it when the tritium starts dying.  These sights are only 2 years old so they have some life left to them.

No dots, flat serrated rear end and big wide u-notch. Not to mention cheap is what sold me on the 10-8 sight. I got my first one about three years ago and I wont be buying a shadowbox setup again. Im using a Novak type along side the 10-8 and theres no real comparison for tracking the sight and picking up the target through it. The Novak I do a little better at keeping the groups tight but thats due to the notch size Im sure.

Anyhow, before you go with the gold bead front down the road check out the Tru-Glo Trijicon things that are starting to come out. They use a fiber optic thats ringed with a tritium insert thing. Looks like it might be the new sliced bread setup.
