Not including .22's

I have a friend who's really into 9mm and 9x23 1911's, and he must be rubbing off on me, hardcore 45 ACP guy that I am. When I saw this Dan Wesson 40 sitting in the used case at a local dealer for a good price with 3 extra mags, I thought I'd give it a try. Stopped at the range on the way home from the gun shop and put 50 rounds of 165gr UMC into the 10-ring of a B27 @ 25 yards. Not bad for a sub-$500 gun.

Very nice! I think you found a keeper!

I'd love to find something similar in .38 Super. I've never shot a .38 Super, but I think I'd like it. One or two more rounds in the mag, lighter recoil than .45 (not that it bothers me) and reputed accuracy, as well as decent power. In fact, if I could only have ONE handgun and ammo weren't a problem, I'd have a 1911 in .38 Super.

Nice find! You can always convert it to a real caliber later

I've already got more than a few 1911's in 45 ACP
