Just picked this up tonight and boy is it SWEET

13+1 rounds of 45ACP in the size of a 9mm package.  I can't wait to get this out on the range...

ETA:

I took it out for a spin today at an outdoor range @ 25yd.  200rds of WWB with absolutely NO issues at all.  The mag loader doodad is pretty cool and makes loading mags pretty easy.  I shoot SOOOO  much better with .45 than .40.  This is my first opportunity to shoot .45 and I absolutely LOVE it.  I will jump on the .45 or die bandwagon from here on out.

Bottom line:  AWESOME pistol, AWESOME price, AWESOME capacity in an AWESOME caliber.

I just bought one at a gun show today. Will pick it up next Friday. Don't know when I'll be able to shoot it though, as thats a busy weekend for me.

Sweet!  I didn't know Springfield had these out.  I'd heard they were gonna make them, but just figured it was market-guesswork/gossip based on the .45acp crowd wanting one ... no idea they were being sold.

I want one

Can you be any more vague?

Get any groups?  how were the sights?  Were the sights dead on or need adjustment?

Could you be any more impolite?

Well, I'm not an expert pistol shooter, and I was only shooting at 25 yds.  I was able to hit the 5.5" bullseye most every shot, which was a feat for me with my previous pistol.  The sights were dead on from the factory for POA-POI if I did my part.  Any other requests?

I CAN'T WAIT FOR A 5" BI TONE TO BREAK FREE! 13+1 AND IT DOSN'T FEEL LIKE I'M HOLDING ON TO A 4X4!

NOW IF SPRINGFIELD CAN ONLY GET THE FINISH RIGHT.

Don't hold your breath  .  I bought one too, a 45ACP, and the finish is the same as on my XD-9 and XD-40 service models.  Great shooter though.

Very nice. I notice the grip appears to be a bit longer than some other similar pistols. HK, Glock ect. Do you have any other guns to compare grip length? Anyway, glad you like the gun.

The grip is a little long...  I placed it directly on top of my HK USP compact and once the magazine with the lip on it for gripping is in the HK is almost exactly the same height as the XD.  It's probably because of the tall slide on the HK.  All in all, it looks like the XD is ~ .25" longer and .25" taller.  I'd say that's barely noticeable.

There is a guy over at xdtalk.com who took overlay scaled photos comparing the size of the .45.  Check 'm out

I actually like the longer thicker grip.  I think it is just right!  I notice I don't tend to tighten my grip as easily with this gun.  This gun feels like a .45.

Is it too big to carry? I want one but I want to be able to conceal it. It is hard to get an idea of it's size but it seems a little big for concealed carry.

From what I hear it as easy to carry as the service .40 and 9mm, however easy that is...

The trigger is nice and smooth.  I didn't have an XD before but people who have say it's like an original XD trigger after a trigger job...  It's definitely a nice trigger

Excellent, I have a Glock, don't get me wrong I love it, but have never been crazy about the trigger.  Even after the 3.5 connector.

I used to carry the XD9 4" and now carry the XD45acp 4" Its just alittle heavier (2lbs 12oz fully loaded) I also carry a full size 1911 with no problem, so I would say if you carried a XD9 you can carrythis.
