There's a G23 at the local Academy Sports on clearance for $479. I handled it and confirmed all numbers match. It's a Gen 3 G23, with standard (non-scalloped) serrations and RTF frame. Definitely not a Gen4, no oversized mag release and no interchangeable back straps. Is this rare? I've never seen another Glock like this.

As stated in my OP, yes.

Google Glock 23 RTF, most of the pictures show it just like you describe it. There are also a few for sale.  I'd say it's pretty common I've seen 1 or 2 in person never really took notice about the different serrations until you brought it up.

That's news to me, but you are correct. I thought all the RTF Gen3 guns had the scallops.

I own a straight serration G23 RTF2.

Check the serial numbers. Do they all match?

The scalloped slide cuts were canceled quickly.  Then all the RTFs made after that point had a standard slide.

Its normal, been discussed before.

Nothing unusual about it.

I've seen more RTF's with standard slide serrations than the scalloped ones. My 19 RTF2 has straight serrations.

I also read that the scalloped sides were cancelled quickly but I just bought a new RTF2 G17 from Gander Mountain about a month ago and it had the scallops, the fired brass that came with it had a fire date of March 8, 2011 so they are still coming from the factory.

Most of the Full frame RTFs that i have seen are still scalloped - whereas most of the compact frames RTFs that i have seen are straight

Damn guys, he stated in the OP the numbers match...

I'd get it. The $479 G23 I bought from Academy a few months ago was the RTF2.

Nothing unusual about it.  I've seen lots of RTF G19 and G23 handguns with standard slides.

Could it be one of the Glock factory reman's?

I've also got a standard slide RTF2 G19.  MY RTF2 SF G21 also has standard slide serrations.

My Glock 19 RTF2 has straight serrations.

ETA: If I remember correctly, the first RTF2 batches of the Glocks had the "fish gills" and then they switched back to the standard.

That's the RTF, the RTF2's are the ones with the moon slide serrations. We've had a few come through Gander Mountain..... maybe, maybe I'm just unedumikaded

The moon slide serrations have nothing to do with the RTF2 texturing.
