Well I bit the bullet and bought an full size M&P 9! I've either read they are damn good guns or they have issues so we will see hope I'm happy with it! Also bought a shield too!

I have read lots of criticism of  M&Ps.  my own Bodyguard .380, 9mm Shield, 9mm fs, .45 compact, and
recently added 4 inch M629 have all been GTG.  wish I still had my old M422 22lr, but one of the daughters
liked it and I gave it to her.
look at the Apex kits for the 9mm.

You'll love it.  They are great guns and they have awesome aftermarket options that take it to a new level.

I own an M&P9, M&P45C and a Shield9, my only issue to date was the 45c lost the white dots on the sights.  All have various APEX trigger parts that have greatly improved them.  My only other slight issue is the fact that S&W wouldnt sell me a sear block for the 45c, they only sell to dealers...

My M&Ps, a .40 full size and a 9c,  have been great service type pistols and have been perfectly reliable over the course of thousands of rounds.

I hope you enjoy yours.

Shoot it before you buy an Apex kit. My wife has a used M&P9 we bought from the EE that came with the Apex installed for the same price as a used stock M&P9 locally. Its got an extremely smooth trigger, she loves it. The majority of the M&Ps I own have standard stock triggers and I'm okay with them. I spent the price difference on more mags/ammo/holsters rather then upgrading the triggers in mine.  Different strokes for different folks. I figure if the trigger is better then a  2nd Gen S&W 469 or a Beretta 92D (the crap I shot and carried 15-20 years ago),  I'm okay with it as is.

My M&P 45 has been 100 percent reliable for me, it's a good gun.

I have both the M&P9c and 45c. Both have been 100% reliable and I have not added any after market kits (yet )

I had one I put through the ringer and it worked perfectly every time I shot it. It is a nice pistol which gets bad reviews and people love to jump on the band wagon. Every manufacturer makes some bad models from time to time.

I'll admit up front I'm an M&P fan.  Full size 40, full size 9, 40c, Shield 9, and 380 BG.  Other than an issue with the laser on the BG380, all of them have been great and all of them have stock triggers.  The only thing I think S&W is missing from the M&P line up is something that is truly G19 sized (the SD series is pretty darn close and those are also great guns).  Buy it.  Shoot it. Enjoy it.

Glock guy myself but I have to say I love both my M&P 9 and my shield.  I recently purchased both after trying them at the range.  I couldn't be happier except for the fact that eventually I will have to purchase a full compliment of gear if I eventually want to start carrying these.  Oh well such as life!   For now I guess these will be relegated to range use.

Years back, early 90 I was all Custom 1911, then Glocks and now M&P seem to fit me better. I love my 9 Pro's and 9C.

The trigger isn't as bad of what people claim but then again I'm used to factory triggers and not 3-4 pound triggers. Anyone else shot a newer mp9 full size?

I have a full-size and compact never been one of my favorite pistols the triggers are rather MEH.  They have never given me an issue but one day I will upgrade the triggers with Apex triggers and maybe I might like them.
I have nothing against the pistols I just like my Glocks and Sigs much more.

Excellent pistols. I have a full size 40 cal which was my first gun ive ever owned and i shoot it better than my glock 19. Ergonomics are great and it feels great in the hand. About 1500 rounds through it no failures of any kind. stock trigger was ehh but managable. Recently put in the apex polymer trigger and what a difference!
